We had the good fortune of connecting with Cesar Rios Rico and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cesar, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I think one of the best habits that has helped me succeed is to think outside the box, go for it, and look at the numbers. What I mean about think outside the box is to put yourself in the customers shoes. Answer their questions, make their life easier. Find your competition and ditto all their movements but bring more value. Copy and paste something better. Second habit, is go for it!!! Sometimes you dont need the perfect plan or business plan. All you need is to go for it. Specially if you have been thinking about it for some time. Its never the perfect time. Like they say the best time to plant a tree is not today or tomorrow. The best time to plant a tree was yesterday. Lastly, ANALYTICS! With todays technology you can analyze how many people visit your profile, time of the day you get more calls, etc… If you have an idea go for it. Look at the numbers, did the change bring more leads or more views?
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Not sure what to say here, I guess was sets me apart from others is my critical thinking. Most people see a Mariachi but inside I am just a problem solver. Thats the reason I enjoy Software Engineering. The road is not easy. I had to wear multiple hats. I am the Software Engineer, Marketing Director, Content Creator, Receptionist, HR, and musician. What I dont know I google or youtube. When I dont have the time I outsource. For example I cant write music but I can code and advertise and bring in more leads that creates more money. Then I can pay someone to write new music. The beauty of having multiple hats is, I dont have to answer to anyone. I make the choices.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you come to L.A you have to visit a rooftop bar. Its a must! Also you must visit the Dodgers stadium catch a game. For the nigh life you must visit EastSide Luv. Small and cozy bar. But most important you have to hit the street vendors of Boyle Heights, The best tacos, fruits, pupusas, and deserts. Yes everyone comes for the lights, stars, and Hollywood but the best kept secrets are the street vendors and the small mom and pop restaurants and bars.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I had to narrow it down I would narrow it down to two groups. First would be the fraternity I belonged to at UC Davis, Nu Alpha Kappa. Through their community service, event planning, fundraising, and network I learned how to micromanage a group of people. How to analyze every individual and use their strengths to get the best out of them. I like to think those Golden Years of being recognize by the State Capitol, Campus, and the City of Davis for our outstanding work gave me the leadership I have today. Till this day I keep using everything the organization has taught me. I continue to use my network for legal advice, website advice, investments and many more that I apply to my business. Second, I would like to thank my team members. I do get burn out having a part time job as a Software Engineer and Mariachi. I don’t consider myself a CEO or Entrepreneur. I consider myself a leader. Leading a team to change the way business is run. To change the playing field. If my musicians make my life easier I get to focus on innovation on new ideas. I find myself burn out but when I hear one of my musicians say, “thanks for all that you have done, you are one of the best bosses I know”. All the work makes it worth it. My team definitely picks up the slack when someone needs it. In particular Columba Barba. Everyone in my team is their for a reason. One is my voice of reason, another the one I can always count on being there, others for their singing and interaction with customers. Everyone plays an important role and wouldn’t change them for a better musician because their personality and loyalty surpasses any musical skill others can bring.
