We had the good fortune of connecting with Channing Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Channing, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think the most important factor behind my success is the attention to detail in my content. I’ve had a number of friends reach out to me saying that they love my content because it looks as if there was an entire team behind producing the end product. But it’s actually just me, myself and I. Although it is plenty work to create the content in my style, it pays off because the attention to detail in the product such as graphics, music, and quality make it appealing to my viewers.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art comes in the from of my main enterprise, Channing Reid TV. It can be found on Instagram @channingreidtv or on YouTube, just search Channing Reid TV. I create newscast-like and talkshow content that is both informing and entertaining. I perform all of the tasks you would see to get the nightly news or a day-time talkshow on TV everyday. It takes alot of time, work, and dedication, but it is something that I love doing. The cultivation of my product is years in the making as I started doing this from my bedroom at an early age. I spent many years creating content for myself. I would never publish it for the world to see because I was afraid of how it would be received. Once I started to share my work about 4 years ago, I started gain some attention and support from my friends. But things have not always been easy. I would say one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is using my art to jumpstart a possible career. The broadcasting industry is a competitive and difficult one to get into and I have experienced that firsthand. But one of the lessons I’ve learned along the way is to continue what I’m doing because it is my passion and dream. People see my brand and love it which inspires me to keep up with it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Southern California is a great place for vacation. That’s why I moved here! I’ll start out with places to eat at because I’m a huge foodie. We would first visit White Horse Lounge in Pasadena. With their amazing selection of cocktails and drinks, my favorite thing on their menu is their warm biscuits and honey! They’ll melt in your mouth. On another day, we’d travel down to Orange County to visit Las Brisas restaurant in Laguna Beach. The upscale restaurant overlooking the ocean does not have one bad thing on the menu and spectacular photo ops. For breakfast, Butter restaurant in San Dimas has the fluffiest pancakes you’ll ever have and the service is top notch. For dinner with a view, Perch in the heart of Los Angeles would be the next place on our itinerary. With a grand rooftop bar, their steak and potatoes will leave you speechless. And last but not least, we would go on a little road trip to Los Arroyos in Santa Barbara. The Mexican restaurant has amazing drinks and food! It is definitely worth the two hour drive.
As for spots to hang out at, Disneyland is a must and Crystal Cove beach in Orange County my favorite beach to visit in Southern California. We would then travel up to LA to catch a broadway show at the Pantages. And then while out in Santa Barbara eating at Los Arroyos, we would spend a day in Solvang to visit Ostrichland USA and grab a couple pastries!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My father is definitely the first person I would give a shoutout to. At and early age, I found my passion for broadcasting and he has supported me ever since. I started to create my own content in the from of home videos at the age of 6 and he would let me use his camera recorder so I could film my own “make-up” newscasts in my bedroom. As I grew older and began to seriously invest in this passion, he was right by my side. I know he has seen every video I’ve created and he always shares them with his friends and colleagues. He’s always said, “My son is going to be the next Al Roker!”
We’ll see about that one!
