We had the good fortune of connecting with Charisma Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charisma, how do you think about risk?
I think taking Risks is an important part of life. When you take risk you are doing something that other people are afraid to do whether it be trying new things, talking to somebody new, or just being yourself. A roll fat taking with played in my life was me starting a business at 15. It has inspired people around me because I took the risk. Of course I was afraid of what people would think of me and how they would see me but in the end I helped more people because of what I did and I’m glad I took the rest today.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is called 81gre8t. What sets me apart from others is I am a full-time student full-time track runner and also 16. As a young person with a business it can be challenging juggling so many different things and also just trying to live your life but in the end it’s going to shape you to be the person you are or will become. Some thing I’m most proud about my business is being in a store. When I started this business I was not thinking on a bigger scale I was just thinking about who can I inspire around me in my neighborhood but the fact that something small turned into something a little bit bigger it’s just very crazy and I am very proud of myself and this accomplishment. One lesson that I learned along the way was that you can’t do this by yourself. You need a support system people to help you people to guide you and just people to just speak in your life and encourage you. I want the world to know that someone at my age is able to start a business and you can too. If you were thinking about something and you’re a little bit afraid to do it just do it because you never know how far you may go with it and who will be inspired by it so just go for it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area I live the first place we would go to is the beach. Next we would get some really good food at probably cheesecake factory or Panera bread. Next I would take my best friend to the mall to do some window shopping or real shopping . Next I will probably take my friend to go get some really creative drinks like Boba or Jamba juice or any type of juice please. The next day we will probably go to the movies and get ice cream or gelato. Those would be something fun and different to do throughout the week I think it’s important to try new things every day and I think my best friend would like this.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my family especially my mom. My mom has given me the courage to start my own business. If she hadn’t started her own business I am not sure I would have a business today so thank you Mom.
