We had the good fortune of connecting with Charmaine Hamp Carino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charmaine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to be a ‘healer’ in some capacity. I loved listening and supporting people through their challenges. I would spend hours on the phone helping people without getting paid. I had many interests and wanted to do more than one thing. I enjoy change and excitement in life. I wanted my own hours and to be my own boss. I talked to God asking for these things to come in. While I was not in the ideal job I worked on patience and contentment and continued to do the spiritual work. I started looking through all the things I could do as a healer. I had already taken a Kundalini teacher training and I had just enrolled in a HypnoBirthing® Facilitator program. I had a background with children as my mother has had a daycare all of our lives. Birth is the beginning of everything and has a lot to do with how our lives are playing out. As a Life Coach I also go back to the time between 0-7 years of age when working with a client. Everything is connected so working with pregnant families also just fell into place. My businesses came to be by knowing what I wanted, what I could offer, and asking the universe for it. It fell into place without forcing anything or needing something to happen. I literally flexed the muscle of trust with all my might and out sprung Meditational Birth and Love Alchemy Coaching.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Whether I take you on as a Life Coaching client or I help you with your birth as a doula or your HypnoBirthing® Coach, I am with you 100%. Even if you are just attending my yoga classes at The Inlighten Collective you will feel loved and supported as you awaken to your gifts. I love what I do and I do it with all my heart. I desire for you what you desire for yourself and I am overjoyed to hold your hand through the process.
I read the ‘Human Design’ for my clients. The Human Design is an in-depth look at your DNA to reveal your true nature and discover your purpose. In the Human Design I am a ‘Generator.’ That means that I am not supposed to chase things. When I do I end up chasing my tail. Well I wish I had known that in my 20’s and 30’s but I had to learn that on my own to be able to teach it now. I trust that with this work there is always a reason and a purpose for everything.
One thing I would love you to know about my brand and my story is that I am just as unique and as special as you. I am here to help you Re-Member who you truly are. If I can build my own business and find happiness doing what I love everyday so can you. I always trust that the creator sends me whoever is ready to take the next step in their evolution. If you are drawn to this work trust your heart and reach out. You can’t make a mistake; you have nothing to loose and everything to gain. You may even step into living the life of your dreams.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Los Angeles so there is non-stop activities in and out of the city. I love hiking and doing yoga. I would definitely invite them to my Kundalini Yoga class at The Inlighten Collective, formerly know as The Yogi Tree. If they like hiking some of my favorite hikes are Runyan, Fryman, Malibu, Tuna Canyon, and the hikes around The Griffith Observatory. I would take them to a screening in the Observatory to view the Northern Lights film. My favorite beaches are El Matador, Point Dune, and 1000 Steps Beach in Laguna Beach. You could rent some bikes and go from Venice to past Santa Monica Beach down the PCH. Also check out a concert at the Greek or the Hollywood Bowl. I might even take them to The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel for a pool day if they wanted to check out the Hollywood scene. For the healthiest organic vegan options and some of my faves go to Cafe Gratitude, Sun Cafe, and Lotus Vegan. Take a trip to Joshua Tree to marvel at the starry nights and the rock people or one of my other favorite camping spots is near Santa Barbara called Red Rock Canyon. Lastly with more time I would take them to my favorite hot springs a couple hours outside of Los Angeles called Deep Creek. There would be no shortage of fun to be had.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The first book to get me on the path of finding my true soul purpose at 16 was Tony Robbin’s Book, ‘Awaken the Giant Within.’ I would also say studying acting at one of the best schools in the world, Stella Adler, in New York was pivotal. Acting school helped me to find my voice and use it. It also helped me to know who I truly am, what my gifts are and how others see me. I learned how to put myself into the shoes of many characters’ lives and to have compassion without judgement. Which has definitely prepared me for the world we live in today. I would also say the third best thing I have done to wake me up on this journey to finding happiness is the Golden Bridge Kundalini Teacher Training in Los Angeles. I now facilitate a yoga teacher training with Inlighten Collective in North Hollywood. Lastly I wrote a chapter in a book called, ‘Time, Are you On My Side.?’ I was grateful to be included in a collection of inspiring female voices. Everything along the way has lead me to understanding who I am. I believe that is one of the most important things we can do.
