We had the good fortune of connecting with Cheryl Medeiros and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cheryl, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I packed up my life in LA to go on a 6 month euro trip and then on the day of my flight the travel ban got put on… I got stuck with my family in Florida for months, with each month passing hoping and wishing that the pandemic would be over. But here we are. That being said in June I started on my silversmithing journey. I wanted to come out of this heartbreaking pandemic at least with a new skill. I’ve been selling jewelry for 5 years but always craved making my own with my hands. I’ve always collected vintage silver and decided to start on a new journey of learning how to silversmith! I found a master silversmith to give me virtual lessons and also taught myself from Youtube. Here we are 8 months later and I am a full time jeweler living in Nashville.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I make handcrafted silver jewelry using 925 and fine silver. I mostly work with one of a kind vintage stones. No two items that I make are the same. Living in the California desert fueled my passion for the ruggedness of the west and now, living in Nashville country music inspires me most. I meticulously melt down 925 silver, each piece finely crafted. I spend most of my days, bending, hammering, and molding my ideas into existence. Made slow with love and high heat.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My father. I lost him in Nov 2019. This cathartic, creative outlet was how I released my pain, it became an homage to him. He loved silver and my entrepreneurial spirit. I did it for the both of us.
