We had the good fortune of connecting with Chitwara Moise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chitwara, how do you think about risk?
Risk. Well I believe there is no growth if we only ride on the safe side of life. Every first step towards a dream that nobody else has got faith in apart from you, every single move one makes out of their comfort zone is a risk. This is because usually we take that route with no assurance of greener pasture nor even a better life than the one we had gotten used to, things could get worse who knows but still we take that one leap of faith and before we know it we are already blowing up.
In my life risk taking is one of the major factors that have made me always stand out, if only at some point, I had let my fears get the best of me I wouldn’t have accomplished nothing completely for myself. It’s very important in life though to always take calculated risks.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art mainly is how I get to attach the emotions within to my lyrics and music. What sets me part is the fact that I combine three genres of music (Afro-beat, House-music and pop) and still deliver accordingly. Doing EDM in my country is different nobody does such style apart from my team and I. its something new we are introducing to our Ugandan community. I’m proud and excited that most of the people who listen to my work respond positively. and with time they are embracing the genre. Getting where I am today professionally has been pure dedication, consistency and discipline. I had to make time for what I love, I had to keep creating even when nobody paid attention also I had to respect people’s opinions and choices. I had to accept the fact that not every body is going support me. negative criticism helped me improve and master my art and positive criticism gave me hope and faith in what I was doing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, this is Uganda, the pearl of Africa, so many beautiful hangouts. But to be specific, if a friend paid me a visit I would definitely take them to the national museum, also to Queen Elizabeth game park to get down with some Gorilla tracking. I think it’s a very interesting activity. about food, I’m not the type that eats out a lot. I prefer home made food but we got a lot of fish, I mean who doesn’t like fish!! The studio, how would I forget my favorite location? so we would be in there for hours for real.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mama, may her soul rest in peace. This lady believed in me even when I proved senseless. She always told me I was different and that God held a greater future ahead of me. If I took for granted the light shining upon me, I would have not only messed up my life but also that of my whole family because my future is so great and God made it so for the benefit of everyone.
Then my dad too has always been a great friend that I would never at any cost want to disappoint. I do everything I can to make him proud.
My siblings who believe in everything that I do, these guys have always seen me like a star even before I became one. My producer Lucien Beats, who is also my little brother, has been a blessing and a big part, playing a major role in the success of my music career.
I thank myself too for working hard and not giving up till now. We have a long way to go but we still have a lot to accomplish.
