We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloe Allison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chloe, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson Alli.C my Children’s apparel brand has taught me is that being a perfectionist is a double edge sword. On one end it’s good, you pay attention to EVERY detail and don’t miss a beat. On the other end you’re so engrossed, even in the little aspects that you can stifle the growth of your business.

So, for me it’s a daily work in progress to keep the perfectionist spirit (as I have affectionately coined it) balanced. Keep a bit for quality control, and I try to let the rest go, and I hired help to grow my brand. Mistakes will, and still happen even when I do everything myself. The best thing I can do is allow room (and time) for human error because sometimes the most wonderful creative things come from it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Alli.C is a children’s design house, that uses luxuriously soft fabrics sourced from around the world to create exclusive heirloom quality clothing & accessories. We design timeless silhouettes with modern details. For parents who value style and comfort for their child’s delicate skin. Our signature Silk-Lined baby blankets and beanie hats set our contemporary children’s brand apart from others. They’re a baby shower gift favorite and have been gifted to Hollywood moms such as Keshia Knight Pulliam, and Tamera Mowry-Housley.

From receiving my fashion design education at Savannah College of Art and Design to working as a designer for some of the best brands. It has always been my goal to have my own children’s design house, and I am so proud to be achieving that goal and employing other women of color.

Also, I am proud to say that everything Alli.C makes is manufactured in the USA. This has been very rewarding but also the biggest challenge. Sewing is a dying art in the United States and finding sewing contractors that have everything we need, and willing to do small batches is harder than anyone would ever imagine! Going forward I am so excited to introduce our new collection that is set to launch in the spring. We’ve been working on it for what seems like forever because of pandemic delays and I can’t wait for everyone to finally see it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m such a foodie so the first place I’m taking them is to eat! Milwaukee has so many great restaurants it’s hard to narrow them down.

Next we would go to the Third Ward to do some boutique shopping and visit the Milwaukee Public Market where you would find local everything!

We would also go visit the Milwaukee Lake Front. What’s a trip to Milwaukee without going to lake Michigan it is a great lake after all, but it is also home to several museums one being the art museum which has a beautiful pavilion designed by Calatrava.

If it’s summertime we would go to one of Milwaukee’s many festivals, and in the winter, we would go sledding, ice skating, or skiing.

Oh, and I almost forgot I would have to take them to the Deer District to see the home of the NBA champs the Milwaukee Bucks!
