We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Steele and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christian, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I feel that I am true to my customers. I give them a little more insight about me. I show my creativity with my designs and my promo videos. The videos I do takes a lot of hard work and planning. I do it to show appreciation to my customers for supporting me through my journey. I am not just a clothing line that creates shirts, hoodies and sweatsuits. A lot of my success comes from the accessories that I have. I had to switch it up and elevate my business in ways others were not doing.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business consists of custom clothing created by me. I have a list of items customers can choose from on the website. They can choose custom colors of their liking. I started this business officially one day in my dorm room in college. I was a collegiate football player and my career was cut short due to a few leg surgeries that took me out. I thought about all the ways I could make money now that I wasn’t playing football. I always was fly and could dress. I use to make shirts for friends and family when I was younger so I always had the passion for it. I got to the position I am now by doing my research, being creative, taking risks and investing my money. I want the world to know about my brand and my story. I feel there is so much you can learn about a person through the pieces of clothing they create.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to Louisiana fried chicken. As common as it is, a lot of people have not eaten there. It always taste better when it’s in your hometown. I would take them to Ontario Mills to go shopping and get a couple of outfits. You definitely want to go to Roscoes chicken & Waffles and get the Obama special. The last place we would go is downtown Hollywood and walk down the street to see the entertaining people doing their skits. I’m pretty laid back so that is my way of having fun.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would give a lot of my success to my mother. From an early age, she always had a business mindset. She never forced me to start a business or to learn. Just by growing up, I watched and picked up everything from her. I ask her a lot of questions about businesses and how they are ran. She made it clear to me that to live the life you want, you must put your trust into your craft. Go hard in everything that you do. Also, another reason I go so hard is to give my daughter a good life.
