Meet Christine Ariya | Singer/Songwriter/Performer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christine Ariya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christine, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
As an aspiring artist, I have struggled with knowing whether or not my passion is the vehicle to my purpose. Over the course of my life, I made my passion for singing become my main goal. I consistently pursued a singing career and currently still am. As I look back at everything that has been placed in my life from people to opportunities and many more, I’ve come to realize that this life was meant for me. Regardless of the struggles I have faced, I continued to move forward and God continued to show me why. If we base this question on each circumstance or hurdle that comes our way, we would always feel like we should give up. But if you take yourself out of the equation and actually look at the bigger picture instead of just the small details, you’ll realize that there’s so much more to pursue within your field. But if at anytime you realize that pursuing your goal has hindered your growth in any way, it might be time to take a step back, reevaluate your path and ask God to show you the correct way. He always knows which path we should take and He will always make sure we get there as long as we allow Him to guide us.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
As an upcoming R&B singer from Pasadena, it’s hard to be acknowledged or honored for being wholesome these days. I don’t sell sex. I don’t talk down on men. I don’t cuss in my music and I don’t twerk for views. I am a firm believer in Christ and respecting modesty. My music is about spiritual warfare, the cycles i’ve been in, how i’ve felt within them and how I can persevere. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m not knocking those who do. To each his own. However, I just wish that wasn’t the main thing everyone sees/hears today. I wish artists that speak on meaningful issues and topics were celebrated just as much as those that like to party and have fun. It’s possible to coexist, give respect and credit, and still be loved for each other’s art.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Keisch Wilson, Mr. K, if you will. He was my very first mentor. Taught me almost everything I know about music business and how to conduct myself within this industry. We parted ways a few years ago but I will always give this man the credit he deserves. I simply cannot say anything bad about him. I will always have love for him.
Jay Kasai, my creative partner. He helped me get back into making music after being screwed over. He welcomed me into his creative space that made it so easy for me to write and feel comfortable doing so. Anytime I need sound advice whether it be music, life, or finances, he’s my go to. One of the smartest, most hardworking people I know. My love for him is endless. I would do just about anything for this man lol
