We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Dee Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Coach Dee, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
The phrase I utilize most now is; “If it hurts, its not healed!”
This is the foundation of my entire practice. It is a simple statement yet, it is profound. It caused me to start on my own journey to live pain-free. But what I came to realize is that pain has a purpose – pain is an indicator! When we experience pain in our bodies, it is indicative of a malfunction. If the pain didn’t appear to notify us of appendicitis then, our likelihood to survive a ruptured appendix would be zero.
This quote had me view my pain in a different light. I now see my total accountability for my own joy and peace. I saw that blame has no place in healing!
My own healing journey birthed my practice. I now assist others in “Pain Management!” This quote is now the mantra of our program.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a life coaching practice where I help people overcome what I have dubbed, “the inner me.” That of course is a play on the word “enemy” however, if we closely view ourselves, we may note that most of our sabotage is self inflicted.
What I am most proud of is that this practice was born out of my own healing journey. As a result of facing my inner trauma and the fruit stemming from it, I am a witness that it can be overcome. You can DEFEAT your “INNER ME!”
What I learned along the way is that love is the answer to all that ails us. Love of self first, which creates the measuring capacity to which you can love others. Loving someone through their humanity is honorable, loving yourself enough to create boundaries is necessary.
The most challenging part of the journey has been balance. Although this practice is my calling, it is also my business and it is difficult being a hands on counselor/healer and handling business matters. I am now learning delegation and looking into hiring help soon.
What I want the world to know is that LOVE is my brand. I am on a quest and this is a movement to encourage all to get on the road to unconditional love. This love has to happen within yourself before you can offer it to anyone.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would do an outdoor spot in WeHo like Rocco’s or Hamburger Mary’s, this would be the chill thing to do when someone has just flown in. I would then take them to the walk of Fame and to drinks.
We would dine the next day at Castaway, Burbank and then head to Leimert Park and stroll then dance at Utopia.
Sunday Funday would be a brunch and then day party at Mama’s Shelter!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Back in 2020 I reached out to Toyia Jackson of Iconic Choice Advisors to consult with her about a business venture. Weeks into working with Toyia and her associate Dom, I noted that her keen eye for business went beyond that. She can see purpose! We shelved the original project and Toyia shifted the direction to forming my life coaching and healing practiced. She and Dom even helped me choose my name!
I encourage anyone that is interested in starting a business to check out Toyia Jackson (Yes same family – not all Jackson’s sing!) of Iconic Choice advisors. You don’t just want the best advice, you want someone with insight!
