We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach JT & Debbie Moye’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Coach JT & Debbie, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Respect is the key to developing a well rounded child. Our program is so much more than the average fitness class. We reinforce respect, manners and ethics everyday . Our class Expectations includes Respect yourself, Respect others, Respect your coaches and Respecting the equipment. These are powerful lessons that allow the kids to become strong and confident individuals.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Debbie and I are changing lives. The focus is to teach children good habits for life using music, fitness, nutrition as well as to respect themselves and each other. Coming from musical theatre and child development backgrounds, founders JT and Debbie Moye’ put their creative talents together to create a rewarding experience for children to work out and have fun. Our mission is to teach kids good fitness & nutrition habits and we hope that the information trickles up to the parents. Join the fun with EC Fitness & Nutrition and help your child reach their infinite potential. If you believe Everything Counts for kids, then you are already an advocate for EC Kids. All EC Kid programs focus on teaching children good habits for life. The age appropriate information is introduced through original music and fun parodies of popular tunes they already know. We focus on nurturing the whole child through a combination of gymnastics, sport drills, child development group games, rhythm, music and movement. EC Kids is where Fitness & Nutrition meets entertainment! Since 2015 we saw the need to service our youth a little deeper than teaching rolls and cartwheels. They needed tools they could use for life. So we both left our jobs, took that leap of faith and started EC Kids. Because Everything Counts for Kids.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We have lots of hidden gems in town. Within walking distance from our home is the Baldwin Scenic Overlook. For hikes, 360 spectacular views and wildlife and the best place to watch 4th of July fireworks. If we have guests who like to shop we show them Santee Alley in the heart of Downtown L.A. The most unique place to eat, grab a drink or special event, Clifton’s Cafeteria is a historic 4 story blast from the past. Laguna and Point Dume are 2 of our favorite beaches for a day trip. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We will have to give a shout out to our family for all their love and support they have given us. Giving their encouragement, expert advise, creativity and yes, even physical labor to help us make EC Kids what it is today. Their confidence and belief in our vision has allowed us to thrive, even during a pandemic. Then there’s our Amazing EC Kids. These unique individuals are what drives us. Without them and their parents, we would not have an EC Kid program. We share their excitement whenever they reach a milestone or daily achievement. Our never ending drive to make sure every child has their best day ever keeps our program fresh and new.
