Meet Colleen Lippert | Celebrity Publicist & Owner of Anchor Publicity

We had the good fortune of connecting with Colleen Lippert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Colleen, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
The first thing that comes to mind is just how much authenticity and trust define our work in PR. There’s a common misconception that PR is about manipulating the truth to fit a specific agenda, but in reality, it’s quite the opposite. Public relations is about amplifying a brand’s message in transparent, engaging, and meaningful ways—not creating a story that isn’t there.
That said, like in any field, there are always a few bad apples that spoil the bunch, and unfortunately, publicists can sometimes get a bad reputation because of it. But the truth is, most of us are here to help and to ensure that our clients connect with their audiences in genuine and impactful ways. It’s a profession grounded in integrity, and we work hard to earn and maintain that trust every day.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2016, I opened Anchor Publicity at the age of 25 after experiencing a #MeToo moment at my previous place of employment. It was a pivotal turning point in my life, and while it was a challenging experience, it also strengthened my desire to take control of my career and create a business where integrity and respect were at the forefront.
Anchor Publicity is more than just a PR agency. We’re a team that truly cares about our clients and their well-being, and we’re committed to helping them shine in an industry that can be overwhelming at times. I never want anyone to feel uncomfortable around me, and I strive to create a space where they can truly be themselves.
Trusting my gut has been one of the most important lessons I’ve learned. It’s often easier to let something slide than to confront it, but it’s never worth compromising my values. I’ve also learned the importance of standing my ground and sticking to my ethics. This industry can be incredibly cutthroat, especially as a woman, and people will try to tear you down every single day. It’s so important to stay true to who you are so you don’t lose yourself in the process.
I’m most proud of the amazing artists and creatives I’ve had the privilege of working with, from breakout talents to seasoned professionals. Seeing them succeed and grow is what drives me every day.
I am beyond grateful for the friendships I’ve made along the way as well. After going through a traumatic experience like I did in the beginning, it was hard to trust other people in the industry. But, the people I’ve met and gotten to know through my work are just the most amazing and talented humans. Some of the most important people in my life are the ones I would have never met had I given up in the beginning.
I take a lot of pride in my work and the fact that I’ve built my business from the ground up by myself. It hasn’t always been easy, but I have grown so much over the years because of it. There have been plenty of tough moments, but each challenge has taught me invaluable lessons that have made me stronger and more resilient.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve actually never been to Los Angeles, but it’s definitely on my list of places to visit in the future! While I’m based in Nashville and tend to be a homebody, I do have a few favorite spots I love taking friends to for the ultimate Nashville experience:
Gaylord Opryland Hotel: This place is absolutely beautiful! It’s perfect for photos. Aside from the great restaurants and shops inside, there are waterfalls, a waterpark, and even a boat ride you can take throughout the hotel. It’s especially magical around Christmas when everything is lit up!
Broadway: There’s a running joke in town that only tourists hang out on Broadway, and it’s true—you won’t often find locals there unless they have friends or family visiting! But I always take my guests for a night out to experience the music and drinks at the famous Nashville honky tonks. My top pick? The blackberry moonshine margarita at Bootleggers.
Sixty Vines: My best friend, Jesse, and I actually went here for the first time when he visited from Denver last year. The food was amazing! It’s a bit more on the fine-dining end, and they’re known for their wines on tap! If you’re a seafood fan, I highly recommend the pan-roasted mussels as an appetizer. So, so good!
Music Row: This is the heart of the Nashville music scene and it’s a great spot to really get a taste of the music business. You’ll see recording studios, record labels, music publishers, and where other industry execs have their offices. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in the music industry.
Pfunky Griddle: For breakfast, this is my go-to spot for out-of-towners! It’s a cute little bungalow-style restaurant where you can cook your own food on the table. The griddle is built right in, so you can make pancakes, eggs, potatoes—the whole nine yards. And the best part? You don’t have to clean up afterward!
Nashville Zoo: As a huge animal lover, I always end up bringing friends to the Nashville Zoo. The flamingos are my personal favorite, but the kangaroos are a big hit with everyone else, especially when you get to pet them!
Nashville Predators Hockey Game: I don’t know much about sports, but everyone always has fun at a Preds game!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Nashville community as a whole is such a supportive network, from friends, family, fellow music industry colleagues (and even the tourists!), and I’m incredibly lucky to be surrounded by people who constantly build me up. From downloading songs to attending live shows, the support not only helps my clients but also increases brand awareness around my business. Every ‘like’ or share on social media helps tremendously as well—there is truly no gesture too small, and I notice and appreciate all of them.
I’m so grateful to every artist who has taken a chance and entrusted me with their music and careers. Thanks for being a part of my journey and for helping me grow every day.
