Meet Connie Chi | Founder of The Chi Group, Co-chair at The Chi Foundation, and TV/Film Executive Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Connie Chi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Connie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
People have the ability to inspire not just each other but communities and in turn the world. The problem is many people have a hard time getting their stories out there. So it inspired me to start a PR agency, The Chi Group, an award-winning PR agency helping inspirational talents in television and film. We work with actors and influencers from around the world to tell their life-changing stories.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m deeply proud of our team at The Chi Group. An award-winning PR agency working with inspirational talents in television and film. We work with clients who inspire us daily and also inspire the world. To get to this point was the journey easy? Absolutely not! In order to get here, personally I had to go through 3 failed businesses. What that taught me was there is no such thing as perfection when building a business. In fact it’s about trying, failing, and getting back up again. Another profound lesson is to curb the entrepreneurial “shiny object” syndrome. Most entrepreneurs are willing to take risks and when something new comes out we always want to try it. What happens is you end up being pulled in more directions than you planned for which can be detrimental. Focus on a few things and learn all you can about it. We all have unique stories and it is through stories that we learn. For me, I left a corporate job as a diamond wholesales sales person to starting my own businesses. Along the way, I waited 5 years to land my first TEDx Talk, Lonely AF: Lonely About Failure. Wrote 2 books and managed to become an executive producer for a television series working alongside a television studio.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many amazing spots I can think of. The itinerary would definitely have to be something that I would cater towards experiencing things that would make an impact on their life. But when it comes to adventures and experiences I love being spontaneous so I don’t think I would plan out a full itinerary. Live as you go.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s imperative that any entrepreneur has a profoundly strong support system around them. There are so many people who have supported me along the way. If I could I would love to shoutout all of them. But the most paramount and influential individual is Sergio Delavicci, actor in John Wick 3 and TV series Power. His consistent support and inspiration gives me the courage to surpass some of the most surmounting challenges both professionally and personally.
