We had the good fortune of connecting with Corinne Wainer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Corinne, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
One of the most helpful ways I’ve been able to succeed is via a habit I like to call “flexible discipline.” This means I set timeframes instead of precise start and end times whenever I can, I do as much as I can on something instead of the whole thing all in one day, and I choose platforms and products that allow for adaptability as well. For example, on January 1st THE SHAKTIBARRE APP® launches and I adore the ability to take either live or pre-recorded videos. I still feel I am held accountable to my fitness goals but that I can be a real human in that process of success too. Interestingly, I end up achieving more success than I would have even planned under tighter expectations.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Here at SHAKTIBARRE (featured in VOGUE, The NY Times, Popsugar, Reebok, etc) we have over 40,000 stellar reviews about our effective, encouraging, and fun barre and yoga classes that inspire you to show up, feel seen and supported, and truly be yourself. Further, every single purchase sustains our organization’s longstanding commitment to empowerment, inclusion, and our body-positive research at The New School in New York City. What we’ve learned along the way is there an absolute need for online barre fitness that is both rigorous and doable, inclusive and fun, plus still maintains that “neighborly” feeling when some corporate apps have perhaps lost their way in terms of maintaining a truly engaging community feel.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
After a year of losing 3 women’s fitness studios, I am over the moon to announce THE SHAKTIBARRE APP® launches on January 1st. At one point it felt like we had lost everything, but the amount of effort and vibrance our team of 13 has infused into this digital experience is honestly astounding. Just when I thought we may run out of our signature tenacity, the SHAKTIBARRE women dug in and I dare say brought more intention, poise, and dedication than ever before imaginable. I must shout out the team, all of which will be featured on our forthcoming yoga-barre app: Paige, Emily, Jasmine, Rachel, Portia, Ayorinde, Chloe, Meaghan, Morgan, Shawna, Shera, and Sami.
