Meet courtney ursetti | Health Coach & Ayurvedic Postpartum Doula

We had the good fortune of connecting with courtney ursetti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi courtney, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that when you are unable to take risks, it is due to fear. Every risk I have ever taken has proved to be my biggest opportunity in life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I created my business as a Holistic Health Coach and an Ayurvedic Postpartum doula essentially out of my life long love of wellness, the healing arts and for my own deeply rooted needs that were neglected. I started building a new career after 25 years in luxury retail management and graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and could not really find my true identity in coaching until I found out I was pregnant and realized not alot changed in the way women are supported through pregnancy and postpartum. I had little family support and was completely depleted and burnt out.
So out of my own despair, I sought out how to learn how to heal myself properly after pregnancy, how to build support and rebuild my body at 48 after having a baby and no sleep for over a year.
What sets me a part is that my story started from years of trauma as a child, lost trying to find support, understanding and clarity in who and how a women is supposed to feel. I searched years of eastern philosophy, yoga, meditation, buddhism, Sikhism, drugs, alcohol, toxic relationships to get to where I am today.
I am most proud to say that I am always learning and growing. I am not perfect or 100%, but if someone could have reached out to me as I do for others now, and supported my journey as a mentor, or coach or a voice to listen it would have created a ripple effect for positive change and healing.
Now, I am most excited and truly honored to live my life’s purpose, breaking generational trauma, nurturing and teaching others how to advocate for themselves and where to get support.
I have learned some very hard lessons- one being that if you don’t heal old wounds they come back louder and harder to get rid of. Take accountability of your actions and how you want to show up in life and be seen.
I want the world to know that I want to make a lasting change in how we care for our mothers and change the narrative in how we think and feel about our health. My hope is that others feel empowered by my work and my intention behind it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am fortunate to live in one of the best cities for food, culture, health & Wellness. Because I thrive when I am in balance, I try to get a little of everything. During a perfect week in Los Angeles, I would start with an early morning walk on the beach either in Santa Monica or Malibu. Then head to breakfast at Rose Cafe or Gjusta. Then I would head over to Abbott Kinney for some shopping then to lincoln blvd for The General store. That evening I would take our friends to Echo Park and eat at Bacetti and perhaps after stay a night at the Proper hotel downtown.
In the morning we would take one of their rooftop yoga classes before eating at brunch at Caldo Verde then soaking in some rays at their rooftop pool.
The next day I would change the mood and book a sound meditation or red light therapy in Eagle rock at The Soundbath Center.
Shopping the farmers markets in Los Angeles is a must- some of my favorites are Santa monica, Brentwood and for a fun day trip head to Ojai.
The next day we would go to Lake Shrine in the Palisades, the Self-Realization fellowship to listen to a lecture and walk the grounds.
For some culture I would pick two days of Museums- The Getty and The Broad and finally take a trip to the Huntington Library, Art Museum and gallery and walk the stunning gardens.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to both of my daughters. They have both opened the path of new direction and growth during pivotal times in my life. Makaleh age 25 and Romy age 2
