We had the good fortune of connecting with Josephine Villasenor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josephine, what do you attribute your success to?
I wanted a place where people are welcomed, that gives back to the community, that is involved in the community and a place that was reasonably priced for events. This is a reason why my business is successful for the fact I have put myself out there in the community. I give back to schools, to organizations and so forth. I wanted people to be treated with the best customer service like I would want to be treated when I go into another store. My motto is to go above and beyond for the clients and making sure every detail is perfect. I always try to make a Wow factor so that people would be “Oh Wow you must have paid a fortune” but they did it on a budget. I work with budgets and sometimes we get to be a Sponsor for events for the community. I think by being out there in your community the people rally behind you and they see you as a person who is doing good for the whole and not trying to be greedy. This is what makes my business successful, what makes my brand and what is me. You get me, someone that will create something special and or Unique for your event. Big or small we do it all Long Beach Balloons & More LLC
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been in the Balloon, Party Supplies, Party Rentals and Event industry for 25 years. I started very young and fell in love with this industry. I have worked for Big Stores like Party City to Mom & Pop Stores. I have 2 Bachelors Degrees, 1st is Early Childhood Development and the 2nd is Business Science of Business Management. I am proud of my community involvement, being part of 18 various Organizations and giving back to the community just makes life worth wild.
Sometimes in retail you have good day and bad days. One day can go from being on time and everything working out to the next day everything is falling apart. You just must roll with what that day throws at you. Lessons I have learned is to never jump into something before you learn everything. I have had some mishaps and close calls and very thankful to grow and understand those situations.
I am a very mixed individual from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. I am fun, loving, Unicorn(lol), compassionate, fighter and Survivor. I stand up for those that cannot, I give a voice to those that have lost it and shine a light in areas that are dark.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the beach, to a backyard party and a community cleanup. I would take them to every restaurant here because you just cannot choose one. We have great clubs, especially Hamburger Mary’s, The Queen Mary events, oh my so many to choose from. I think the beach is the best place to go for you can meet almost everyone there. Also, in each community they have some kind of event going on from cleanups, to backpack give away to food packs give away, so much to do. I have been here for 20 years and there is always something to do, to see, to go and eat and it still amazes me.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanted to dedicate this shoutout to an amazing man, Shayne Whitehead. He helped me find my way back after abusive relationship and has always been in my cheering section. If it wasn’t for him, I may not be where I am today. His support, his love, his continuing steadfast helping me has been overwhelming and much appreciated. Just saying I believe in you means the world to me. It gives me the courage to jump outside the box and reach for my dreams and to have faith in myself.
