We had the good fortune of connecting with Cowboy Destroy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cowboy, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
For the music industry, I am trying to embrace rejection. If you want to hear ‘yes’, you have to hear ‘no’. For the start of our TikTok account, I posted only bad feedback that we had received on Submithub, a site you can use to submit to bloggers, playlists, and influencers. By posting negative feedback, it helped me take it lightly, and make a joke of it to myself. It also helps to think of all the positive words I hear walking offstage, in DMs, and comments.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are from Texas and living in Los Angeles. We tell folk stories with garage grooves and lofi in-your-face growl. We call it Slop Pop. Saddle up for powerful vocals and a mix of 90s vibes.

Are you ready for jokes with a dash of darkness? Then ride shotgun on this psychedelic trip of queer empowering garage rock, specializing in songs about sex, drugs, and broken hearts. We love fuzz so much. As children we snuggled teddy bears, now we snuggle big muffs, if you know what we mean.

Have you ever been the only single in your group of friends? Our first single BANG YOUR FRIENDS is all about single life in LA. This song was written about our bass player after he had sex with several friends of the band and our songwriter’s sister. Somehow, he is still a stand up guy and a cool dude.

We are getting a reputation for fun live shows and good songs, so we hope we can keep that going. Come say ‘Hi’ after a show.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Breakfast Tacos and queso at Homestate Hike in Elysian Park
Kite and picnic on the beach in Malibu
Drinks and Food at Ye Rustic Inn
Dinner at Hippo in Highland Park
Local Live Music at the Redwood Downtown
Touring Live Music at Teragram Ballroom
Jam at Downtown Rehearsal
Gorilla for Margaritas and Tacos

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, I want to shoutout to J.D. Ramage for making our album art, our logo, and our posters. His graphic vision has been a huge part of our branding and it’s a pleasure to have help realizing the attitude of the band. He’s spent hours balancing all the details and trying to bring back some old school style with our band posters.
