Meet Cristian Faxola | Specialty Dancer / Teacher and Choreographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristian Faxola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cristian, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My ultimate goal as a dance teacher and choreographer is to share the knowledge and joy of dance while helping to preserve and pass on its cultural roots to future generations. I’m passionate about keeping the spirit of dance alive, not just as an art form but as a way to connect people and communities. I look forward to joining the faculty of a major dance convention and expanding my reach by teaching internationally—bringing my style, experience, and love for dance to students around the world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I truly believe we’re all unique in our own way—but coming from Brazil definitely gives me a distinct perspective as a dancer and choreographer. My foundation is a mix of martial arts, tricking (a fusion of acrobatics, martial arts, and dance), and classical dance. That blend became part of my movement signature. It’s something that makes people remember me—not just for how I move, but for the energy and culture I bring into every performance.
My journey hasn’t been easy. I started dancing as a kid in a public school after watching a talent show. I didn’t have the means to take paid classes, so I started going around to studios asking for scholarships. Thankfully, one ballet school took a chance on me—Ballet Stella de Mello in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro. I was allowed to train in ballet every day and, as a reward, got one hour of hip-hop on Fridays. That’s where it all really began.
Eventually, I auditioned and was accepted into a professional dance company in Rio, performing contemporary hip-hop. That opened doors to tour internationally—I had the chance to perform in France, including at the Biennale de la Danse in Lyon. For nearly 10 years, I traveled, trained, and focused on one goal: moving to Los Angeles to pursue my dream.
When I finally made it to L.A. at 27, it was anything but glamorous. I had to start from scratch. No one knew who I was. In 2017, just a few years after moving, I hit rock bottom—I was homeless for a month. My things were in storage, I had barely any money, and I was showering at the gym. I remember once spending $17 of the $20 I had to take class from my mentor. I believed in the power of staying committed, even when everything else was falling apart.
That time taught me humility, gratitude, and the importance of resilience. It also taught me to value the simplest things—a roof over your head, a warm meal, clean water. These are the basics, but when you’ve lost them, you never take them for granted again. I’ve learned that failure and setbacks aren’t the end—they’re part of the path. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve lost friendships, but every moment has taught me something.
What I want people to know—about me, my brand, and my story—is that your lowest point doesn’t have to define you. I don’t want to be just another sad story. I want to be living proof that there’s another ending possible—if you believe, work hard, and have faith. Be patient with your craft, value the people in your life, and never stop growing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If it was your first time ever in LA, I would definitely take you down to the pier. To Hollywood so you can see the Walk of Fame and play some golf with me. Definitely where I usually like to eat. There’s no better place than my home. I’ll make sure I cook for you—great food made with love

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Most definitely my family—my mom, dad, sisters, and brother. They’ve always been there to support me, through every step of my journey. I also carry deep love and gratitude for my friends back in Brazil. Even those who were only in my life for a short time helped shape who I am and what I do today.
A huge shoutout goes to one of my best—Danial Son. He started as a student and became one of the most successful professionals I know. Watching him grow from the ground up reminded me that if you truly believe in something, stay focused, and have faith, anything is possible.
My wife, Andrezza Jasper, deserves endless recognition. She’s my everything—my partner, my friend, my family, my company. She’s a constant source of strength and the reason I keep pushing forward.
I also want to thank my mentor and friend, Marty Kudelka, whose guidance has been invaluable. And of course, MSA—my agency. They were the first to sign me when I moved to L.A., and now, after 12 years, I’m back with them. I’ve never been happier In my career.
