Meet Daijah Peters | Actress, Model, and Social Media Personality

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daijah Peters and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daijah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The reason I decided to pursue an artistic/creative career is for the simple reason that I was put on this earth to perform. I knew from an incredibly young age that whatever I did when I grew up, it had to be performance based. That took a few different forms when I was younger. It started with music and song writing, then slightly morphed into dance, and then took its final form with acting. I was always putting on some type of performance as a child. So much so that when I came to the decision of the career I wanted to pursue at the age that I did, my parents informed me that even they knew I was destined for something in the entertainment industry. And when I was old enough to do everything myself, I dove headfirst into pursuing opportunities in film and television.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion is essentially acting. If there’s one thing I want to be remembered for, it’s my performances on camera. I believe the attribute of mine that sets me apart from others is the fact that I do more than just act. I’m also an entrepreneur, a content creator, a student, an artist, I do my own graphic and logo design, I edit my own content, and the list goes on. At the moment, I am most proud of the movie I wrapped in October of 2021 where I starred as Latasha Harlins in the Latasha Harlins biopic (releasing early 2023). I believe my portrayal of Latasha is my greatest performance to date. To get to where I am today professionally, I’ve dealt with a lot of rejection, insecurity, and questioning who I am. To overcome those days where I doubt myself and what I’m capable of, I have to take a step back, reflect, and remember that I can literally do it all if I really want to. Having confidence in myself is something I’ve struggled with for years but I think I’m finally at a point in my life now where I can be fully sanguine in my abilities. I’ve learned to work through the negative feelings and flip them into positive ones. Five to ten years from now, I want the world to know that Daijah Peters did everything that she set out to accomplish.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In all honesty, I’m a creature of habit so I visit the same places in LA that I have my entire life. I’m also a bit of a homebody if I’m not out working or going to meetings. But if I had a friend visiting from somewhere else, some spots we’d definitely have to hit would be the Watts Coffee House, Stout Burgers and Beers, and the Tacos y Birria La Unica taco truck. Those are a few places I enjoy eating that are only here in California. Some of my favorite places to go out here are the Regal movie theater in DTLA, Docweiler beach, Darby park in Inglewood, the Watts Towers, and Sneakertopia. A lot of the places I listed are places I like to go to sit and clear my mind or draw inspiration from. Sneakertopia is very special to me because I’m a bit of a sneaker enthusiast and its a museum dedicated to the history behind sneaker culture. It was based at HHLA, but is currently in the process of moving to another location. They also just opened up a spot in Seoul, Korea.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The people who deserve recognition in my story are my parents. They are the main reason I am able to do what I do because they taught me at a very young age that with dedication, consistency, and hard work, I can achieve any level of success I can imagine. For this, I thank them for raising me to always go for what I want and not let anything stand in the way of it. Even though I know this sounds incredibly cliche, they genuinely deserve all the praise for making me who I am. They have always pushed me to strive for the greatest level of excellence that I was able to attain, but never faulted me for not being perfect. I also want to thank my partner, Christian, for always being incredibly supportive of all of my endeavors. Some honorable mentions are my sisters Kennedi and Mikayla, and my best friend Amanda
