We had the good fortune of connecting with Blaire Porter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blaire, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
For both of us (owners, Brit + Blaire), balance has been a constantly evolving process, and one where we often inspire one another. Blaire has always been used to sitting down and working days straight to finish something, whereas Brit works when inspired. As we have grown together as collaborators, we have rubbed off on one another a bit and have both become more balanced. We create time throughout our work day for play (music, collaging, taking a drive, a walk, grabbing a snack, etc) while also seeing things through even when it may feel difficult. We’ve found that the more joy we incorporate into our lives, the better our work gets.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It’s been truly magical the way that we have grown together as creators through our brand. One thing I have loved about our friendship and business partnership is that while we are still highly individualistic, we have run parallel. It’s not often that people are close friends for a very long time, typically there is some drifting and growing apart. We are both so grateful that we have mirrored one another and grown through each other. As we continue to make spiritual tools, these tools reflect our internal work and what we are learning as a team. The way we work together is truly special and the energy that goes into what we create is visceral. It hasn’t been easy, but we always look for where we can expand energetically as opposed to turning on one another.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day Glow coffee in Silverlake, Ysabel or Cara for dinner, definitely a hike (loving the Pasadena area for that right now), I’d take them to the gym with me (Wild Card Boxing), and I love Soho House for long hangouts and a loungey vibe.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Nash Azarian is the 3rd leg in our tri-pod and our business simply would not work without him!
