We had the good fortune of connecting with Dami Onilogbo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dami, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking has played a huge role on my life and has made me who I am now. The first was to move to LA with only $500 with no plan no place to live only that I knew I had to be down here to pursues my dreams. The second was changing careers into a field I never thought I’d ever enter which is fitness. I went to college for culinary arts. I’ve been a chef pretty much my whole like up until I moved to LA in 2017. Growing up I was always the fat kid trying to get in shape like my peers but I was never disciplined enough to achieve it but when you’re living in your car in LA and the only place to shower is the gym, it creates a sense of “maybe this is my chance” and ever since the peers who is never think would ask me fitness advice or wanted me to be their personal trainer are now asking me to be

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So for me I like to consider myself a dreamer. And what I mean by that is everything that I feel in my heart I want to do I go out and pursue it. Yes I went to school for culinary arts and I am a chef and that was my dream but I have other dreams which are coming to fruition. I am an Actor , Model, Athlete and trainer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots would be well first the gym. Most likely will hit up Zoo Culture in Canoga park definitely one of the best gyms to train at. Then maybe Runyon like that’s a must. As well as yamashiro Hollywood. The view the food/drinks are amazing definitely should try it out

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a couple of people who inspired this move to LA. First of which is my old chef from Charlotte, Chef Michael Scott. I asked him one day how did you know what your purpose was and he told me he prayed about it and just knew that God put that in his spirit. So he asked if we could come in on our day off and pray about it which we did then a couple weeks later I decided I was leaving. I will always be grateful to him for that. Also while I’ve been in LA there have been people who have helped me while I had no home. Chef Zach Helm, Toi ogunkyoku, Anais Mesada jamaar Wilson
