We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Perri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dana, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Everyone who works out at SHIFT by Dana Perri is part of the community. I am inspired daily by the incredible men and women who make up the SHIFT community. We talk with each other. We encourage each other. We are here to support each other. At SHIFT, no one is a stranger. It can be challenging for everyone to stick to an exercise program, so we are all in it together.

It is incredibly important to me in each class or training session to offer personalized attention, a how-to instruction or simply words of encouragement. I take the time to learn a client or student’s primary strengths and weaknesses. I help guide you, correct you and encourage you.

SHIFT by Dana Perri offers online high energy, low impact, and full body workout classes. Shaping How I Feel Today is the philosophy of SHIFT. An acronym that underscores my belief that everyone – and every day – is unique. The unique full body workouts taught will challenge you, transform you and truly guide you to meet your goals. I will help you find the motivation and determination you need to be successful in your fitness program and make being healthy a lifestyle. This multi-faceted formula combines mind, body and spirit to honor your choice to take charge of your life!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Passionate, persistent, and positive, I pour myself into creating challenging fitness and wellness programs, to provide my clients and students with a distinctive experience that is testament to the power of the human body. I want to inspire change. I live by example. I am a true innovator and motivate those around me to defy limitation and embrace strength.

It is incredibly important to me to live each day with an intention. I change lives through my unique “artistic” approach to fitness, and my ability to connect with, and adapt to my clients and students needs. Over the last 25 years, I have created an incredibly dedicated and loyal following. Along with my enthusiasm for fitness, my background as a performing artist and specialty choreographer has helped me create innovative and creative workouts. Some of my credits include: Cirque du Soleil artist, professional dancer, aerialist, athlete, personal trainer, indoor spin instructor, group fitness instructor, life coach and nutritional consultant.

When I first started in the fitness industry I taught classes all over Los Angeles and then took a huge leap of faith and in
2012 developed my own fitness methodology, SHIFT by Dana Perri. I taught classes for 3 years out of a martial arts studio in the NOHO Arts District. In 2015, I opened my own studio in Sherman Oaks, CA. It was scary, challenging and worth every second of blood, sweat and tears.

Unfortunately, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I had to close my gym permanently. Without skipping a beat and because of my incredible community I took SHIFT online with group classes and personal training. I want to express my deep gratitude to each and every person that has shown support and belief in SHIFT. Every time a client takes a class, it is a reminder to me that personal dreams are achieved when performed with love, determination and vision.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
What I love most about Los Angeles is all that is has to offer!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, there isn’t one person who I can dedicate this to. I am honored and incredibly grateful to my family and friends for their unending support, love and encouragement. I have always appreciated the loyalty, passion and dedication my community brings on a daily basis. More than ever, during this pandemic, I was reminded of just how unique and special my “village” is. I can say without a doubt, that my community is something beyond words . . . truly amazing!
