We had the good fortune of connecting with Dandrell Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dandrell, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is resilience. At this moment, I’m an established voiceover actor, a rising musical artist, and a profitable brand owner of Bad Clothes Company. None of this would be possible without overcoming trials and staying persistent. Nothing happens overnight!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a voiceover actor by day, and a hip hop artist by night. My VO career started in 2011, but didn’t fully develop until 2018. My first recording gig didn’t come easy! It took six months of auditioning everyday, until I was hired to voice Illinois Lottery commercials. Soon after that, I became the AVO for McDonald’s, Comcast, and QuikTrip! Now, I’m the national voice of Wendy’s radio, television, and podcast advertisements. It’s truly a blessing! Years ago, it was hard for black voiceover actors to get work. But nowadays, you can’t watch or listen to a commercial without hearing an African American’s voice! Thanks to my VO work, I was able to fund my music career. By honing my vocals skills, articulation, and microphone presence, music creation became a natural transition. Plus, I’m always in the recording booth; might as well create songs!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA has a lot to offer! If we’re talking about a quick bite to eat, I would recommend Pablito’s Tacos (either in Burbank or NoHo). They have the best tacos, but make sure you get the green crack sauce! If you want to see some beautiful city sights, go to the Universal City Overlook on Mulholland Drive. If you don’t mind driving up curvy roads, the Overlook is a dope way to see the city. If you like beaches, check out Santa Monica. You can surf, have drinks, or just kick it in the sand. And it’s a lot of nice restaurants over there. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate a special shoutout to my daughter, Danae. She singlehandedly evolved my mindset and maturity. I also want to send a special thanks to my agents at Stewart Talent Chicago.
