We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani Rhoades + Whitney Eves and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dani Rhoades +, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is the only way Happy Healthy Littles exists! Dani had been working in a pediatric office as the in house nutritionist for 5 years (while running her own nutrition consulting practice on the side) before realizing that the ‘need’ for her care was more than she was able to give. She took the crazy step of buying a condo to have a home office for the first time to work out of and leaving her stable job for the totally unknown. She had no idea what the next steps were – she just knew there were women all over the country that were pulling for her attention and her time working locally had to end in order to meet the larger scale needs of women + their babies. She had only just begun talking about a potential partnership with her longtime friend Whitney Eves, who then was just graduating from nutrition school – a risk she took altogether going back to school in her 30’s while pregnant with her first knowing she was also only just starting to grow her family. Dani is so thankful that she did because their partnership produced the most beautiful blend of Dani’s professional expertise + Whitney’s personal experience. Out of which Happy Healthy Littles was birthed; our way of reaching women all over the world with holistic nutrition + non toxic living through our online nutrition ‘packages’ that moms have access to for a lifetime. Without risk we wouldn’t be here and the hundreds of moms HHL has touched wouldn’t have had our nutritional care.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
HHL does not fall into the normal patterns of what’s trendy – and certainly not what’s Instagram trendy, lets be honest they’re kinda one and the same now 😉 We hold fast to what we’ve seen + learned regardless of what the latest Instagram Influencers are saying is best. The way we introduce solids is one example of this, we do not recommend, support or encourage BLW at all for numerous reasons related to baby’s gut health, digestive strength + the prevention of nutritional deficiencies. We’re not afraid to talk about it and let me tell you we’ve gotten crazy flack from moms. We’re excited moving forward to create a new + upcoming additional course with our friends at Real Simple Good so that moms can get information about solids that goes against what their used to hearing. Starting a whole new business isn’t easy in itself and then you see these companies on social media with a million followers – how do you compete with that? Despite 8 years of both clinical + private practice, experience with 100’s if not thousands of women + babies it’s hard to get noticed in this wild social media world. Sticking to who we are, what we stand for, being unashamed of what we know is true and persevering continually has been key to making it and we are! We’ve reached women in 12 different countries and continue growing each day 🙂 Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dani gives her shoutout to Dr Iris at Dr Iris Pediatrics where she spent 5 glorious years working alongside this amazing pediatrician serving countless families in the Santa Barbara area. This experience shaped Dani personally, professionally and of course the direction her practice would take. Dani can’t express her endless gratitude for those 5 years spent there. Whitney is too sweet and gives her shout out to Dani who’s taken Whitney under her wing and taught her all she knows 🙂
