We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniele Ciaravolo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniele, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been a musician for more than 15 years now and while mastering my abilities I was just working part-time with music. After graduating from the conservatory in 2017 I decided to move to London to pursue my career as a full-time musician and I then realized that an artist has to look at themselves as a business. Artists have to invest time, energy and money to then one day see the results of their investments, just like any businessman would do. Thinking of myself as a business, not just on paper, made my journey more defined, it allowed me to enjoy the journey too. It is also thanks to the music scene in London, there is always so much to do here!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a guitarist and producer based in London, I play many genres on my guitar but I produce mostly electronic music. I am currently working as an online guitar/bass tutor online while performing with other bands and artists. In the meantime, I pursue my solo career under the name of Cislunar. My main act consists of an electronic live set with improvised music and visuals, the idea is to create a unique set, an experience, that is different at every performance while keeping the same common style and genre. I am working now on putting together a multisensorial immersive event, where the audience will get to interact with my set with the aid of experimental technologies and styles. Getting to where I am was definitely challenging, many people forget that when one moves to a different town, or a different country even, is starting from zero. It is not always easy when you don’t know anyone, especially in a big city like London. Thankfully, there are many kinds of events and gatherings happening here every day that allowed me to network and find opportunities. The secret is to just let yourself go and do these things, they’re less scary than they may seem! One last thing I want to say is: don’t pass on any chance of having an experience, even a bad one, they all teach you a great deal!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, London it’s already famous for many things. I’ve had many friends and family visit me over the years and I would always take them to the most famous places: Big Ben, the London Eye, Camden Town market, and the museums. One thing I love about this city is the sheer amount of different cultures and backgrounds meeting here. You can find all sorts of restaurants from all corners of the world; since I moved here I’ve tried so many new cuisines! Moreover, don’t forget to go check London’s biggest parks like Hyde Park, Regents Park and more. Lately, I went to Kew Gardens, it’s got one of the most beautiful botanical gardens I’ve ever seen! Lastly, go listen to live music, there’s always something going on!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The first to deserve credit are my parents, which have always been open-minded and supportive, in any situation along the way. I want to thank my first band, the one I started when I was still a kid; I’ve learned so much during our many years of gigging, and its members are now some of my best friends. I want to thank my girlfriend Timea, too. She’s been there to help me make the right decisions, especially during the hardest times. Eventually, in a way, I am grateful for all the people I’ve met in my life since I started my journey as a musician. One of the reasons why I became a musician is because of the way artists are, how they behave and live, we support, collaborate and help each other. We are a different bunch of people!
