We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Beckmann and Timothy Reese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle & Timothy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process was, “This is going to be hard, but we’re going to do it anyway.” We both have always dreamed of being entrepreneurs and owning our own businesses. When it comes to production, if you’re not doing it yourself, you run into a lot of gate-keepers. Now we can execute on an idea without asking anyone for permission. If we dream it up, we can create goals to make it happen.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We co-produced the short film Liza Anonymous (filmed in Nov. 2019) and it was just announced as an official selection for the 20th anniversary Tribeca Film Festival! Tribeca will be happening in-person in NYC, and we are very excited to head back to New York for the World Premiere.

The hardest lesson we have learned is that it’s worth it to put all your eggs in one basket. Both of us are multi-faceted creatives, and it is easy to buy into the belief that your art is destined to be mediocre and/or only a casual hobby. We have learned that combining all of your art into one single goal pays off. We are super proud of our first short film Liza Anonymous, and also very proud of creating over 100 episodes of our tabletop web-series with more to come!
We’re constantly working on creating a thriving digital community that’s just as encouraging and uplifting for our cast as it is for our fans. We proudly originated in Brooklyn, NY, and we’re not changing our name even though we moved to LA.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First stop: {Syndicate} in Sierra Madre for a coconut head latte! Second stop: Malama Pono for spam crispy rice (swoon.) Third stop is Sprout’s for Grady’s Cold Brew (it’s Timothy’s favorite, made in The Bronx) because they’re the only store that carries it in CA. Fourth stop: Somisomi on Sawtelle for some very delicious soft serve. Fifth stop: a nice stroll at the Sepulveda Water Basin for some bird-watching (where else can you go on a hike and watch a cricket match!?)
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to recognize the original cast of our first show, Carroll Guardians. Thank you Devo, Jenn, Tyler, Tyler, Krissy and Nathan. They believed in what we were doing enough to put themselves on the internet for us…every week.
