We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Lawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Growing up my mom always encouraged me to draw, and peruse arts as well as my teachers friends and family. They saw it was something I enjoyed and was gifted in. I recognized it as a talent once I got in school, I found myself consistently seeking out fun artistic opportunities and being volunteered for creative projects. I enjoyed every moment from decorating for the seasons as child to illustrating my own attractions and theme parks as a college student. From there I made the decision to pursue my passion full time, and ultimately get paid for bringing my ideas into reality.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other creatives that work for themselves is that I was blessed enough to work my dream job right after graduation.( that tends to not be common trend for my generation) I believe this gave me insight into my profession very early and helped me pursue an entrepreneur role quicker than most. It was never that the professional world was a challenge, or even a feeling of just not fitting in my role. It was the fact I went into my career with the idea that I needed to always be at the top of my game and I was instantly shown time and time again they only wanted 50% of what I could really do. This did two things for me, number 1 it gave me more confidence and assured me I had a lot to offer. Number 2, It let me know that I could never live up to my full potential working for anyone aside from myself. One thing I want people to understand about my brand is that its very goal and dream driven. My story is reality is what you make it , no idea is to big.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
