We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Sheree Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle Sheree, how do you think about risk?
As human beings, we take risks every day. If we think about it, leaving your home poses a potential threat and could be dangerous, but most people still go outside.
I have taken many risks personally and professionally. Typically, hearing the word risk brings on a sense of anxiety for most of us.
I view risk-taking as an opportunity to achieve something different to remove the associated anxiety.
Over the years, I learned there is a difference is taking a risk and being at risk. To avoid putting yourself at risk, you must analyze the dangers associated with the choices you have to make.
For example, you are walking home alone from work, you are tired, and it is 10:00 pm.
You have a choice to make. Do you walk down the dark alleyway to save time getting home from work, or do you walk on the well-lit street and get home 5 minutes later?
The risk is walking home at 10:00 pm. Walking down the alley without thinking about the dangers puts yourself at risk. Think about the example. You will still arrive at home. The better decision may require more time, it may require you to take more steps, but the path is well-lit and safer.
Growing up taught me that taking risks is great, but putting yourself at risk is unhealthy. Just as people can become at risk, so can businesses.
My company DSB Solutions, teaches people not to put themselves or their businesses at risk of closure. We help them analyze the risk of running a business, paying taxes, making deadlines, and being financially sound. We provide services like CFO Advisory, Accounting, Tax Preparation and more to help them be safer.
Founding two businesses, being a single mother to two amazing daughters, and changing the trajectory of my life through generational curse-breaking is risky!
As I continue to grow and progress, most of the risks I take have paid off. No matter the outcome, I learn from each risk I take. Life is about learning.
I hope to encourage someone to take risks – do something different or start something new.
“Take the risk or lose the chance” (painting by my 12-year-old daughter, Ta’Lynn White). If we do not take risks, we lose the opportunity to do something different or start something new.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What set’s DSB Solutions apart from other companies? That is a great question. As the founder of DSB Solutions, I can say I have a passion for the clients we serve. As someone who believes in being helpful, honest, operating with integrity, trustworthy, and a life learner, I would say DSB Solutions exemplifies these qualities as a company, and that is what sets us apart. However, I would instead let our clients tell you.
Our clients tell us that DSB Solutions provides expert advice, is very knowledgeable in business and accounting, consistent, helps our clients remove barriers associated with business and accounting, and DSB Solutions provides dependable services.
How did I get to where I am today; Long story short, God, taking baby steps, determination, the dream of starting, building, and leaving a legacy, I would like to thank my friends, family, mentors, and especially our amazing clients (past, present, and those to come).
It has been a challenge. I am not where I dream of going, but I am proud of where I am. As an entrepreneur, it can be challenging to keep going when you have yet to reach the “big dream.” It is not easy, but I do my best to keep the big picture before me, realizing that the details will be revised and the path can be rocky and keep going, moving forward. When I fall, I get back up and try again.
Life happens, and nothing is guaranteed, but if you keep working toward your dream day by day and bit by bit, you will look back and realize you have been in business for over fifteen years and impacted the lives of hundreds of people. You will see the businesses you helped to start, grow, or taught to sustain. You will see the seeds you planted sprout and grow. My journey has been challenging. But After sixteen years, I am just learning to enjoy the journey. I can genuinely see how blessed it is to be called by God to serve people in business!
I handle business challenges by breathing, researching the issue, evaluating my options, and discussing possible resolutions with a trusted business mentor, colleague, or entrepreneur friend. I trust it will work out for my good, and I pray a lot. As a woman of faith, prayer is critical for my sanity, peace, and mental clarity. I make the decision that brings me the MOST inner peace.
For challenges that require immediate attention, I do my best not to rush in! I breathe, pray, meditate, then make the decision that brings the MOST inner peace. Challenges have taught me to keep going – strength and growth are on the other side.
I have learned a lot along the way. I have learned that I am unique in the business. I learned I must believe in myself. I learned I must believe in God’s vision for my businesses, even when the path gets cloudy.
Though I know it is coming, I care more about helping people and making a positive transformational impact than having a multi-million-dollar business.
I sincerely care about people and want our clients at DSB Solutions to know that and feel that every time they work with one of our consultants. I continue to increase my professional capacity, benefiting the clients we serve at a higher level. It is about the people for me!
One of my favorite quotes is by Nelson Mandela, “Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.” In business, you will fall. In life, you will fail. Allow yourself the space to be human. Feel it. Then get back up and keep going. We need you!
I want the world to know that DSB Solutions solves small business issues.
I want small business owners to know that numbers tell a story; reporting the wrong numbers and watching the wrong numbers can cause significant harm to you and your business.
I want the world to know that DSB Solutions helps people and businesses avoid penalties, interest, and business closures due to poor cash management and lack of documentation, policies, and procedures.
DSB Solutions provides CFO advisory, accounting, training, signature talks, and tax preparation services. Our clients are purpose-driven non-profits and service-based businesses that have an impactful program or service but have challenges running the business administratively and knowing the numbers fiscally. DSB Solutions is here to help! We have helped individuals and businesses alike since 2007
We serve businesses within the United States of America and Abroad!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In the LA Area, I would take my friend to Venice Beach. I am a water baby and am impartial to Venice Beach. As a child, I visited California and fell in love. It is my favorite place to visit, The energy of the people. The ocean view. It is priceless. I am simple; we would pack a lunch and hang at the beach all day until our skin wrinkles from being in the water too long.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family, friends, mentors, and clients deserve a SHOUT OUT! I want to take this time to SHOT OUT and thank my two amazing daughters, Te’ja and Ta’Lynn. When things get tough, and I feel like quitting, I remember they are watching me, counting on me, and rooting me on when I feel like no one cares. Children are indeed a gift! I am blessed to be their mother. Thanks, Girls!! Mommy loves you both forever and always.
