We had the good fortune of connecting with Darren Kolinsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darren, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Always putting my customers’ needs and best interests first has been a main focus and habit to be in. It is important to understand what works best for them and not for me and my company. This creates a real future business with them and cultivates a real and trusting relationship. I have also always worked hard to get in the habit of taking care of requests and projects as soon as they come across my desk. I know that this is something that has put Action Sales West in front of other companies as we respond to our customers’ needs as immediately as possible. I know that everyone here at ASW follows this same philosophy.

What should our readers know about your business?
Action Sales West is a sales and marketing company. We have agreements with Candy/Confectionary and Snack companies, where we act as those companies’ sales agents. We call on many different types of customers and manage our client’s products to those customers for all facets of their business. It is not an easy business because there are so many moving pieces and so many different products. It is very fast paced and every day presents a new challenge. We have stayed successful because of our organization and efficiency. That is what I feel sets ASW apart from other competitive companies. I am so proud and thankful for our sales team and never have any doubts that they put 100% into every day with every customer. I also really enjoy working alongside my daughter Jenna each day. I grew up working with my father and my brother and I have always looked at those days and times so fondly. My father always taught me that the customer is King and that went a long way for me. He said to always take care of your customers and your employees and those things will make you successful. It is important that Action Sales West lives up to the reputation that we have set forth for ourselves and start our company mission statement with the words “BE PROFESSIONAL”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Los Angeles is great for friends who visit. I would always start out by taking them down PCH and end up in Santa Monica. I would continue over to Malibu where I would get them some epic views of the Pacific Ocean. I would then shoot them over to Hollywood to see the sights and finish up in Fairfax to see the Grove and Farmers Market. I would also include a trip up to Santa Barbara of course and take in the beautiful coastline along the way.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I absolutely would say that that I credit any success I have had in business to my family. When I started Action Sales West, I put so many long hours into building the business and this was at a time when my kids, Jenna and Hayley were young. The support I received from my wife, Lisa motivated me to work even harder and kept me focused. I would not have accomplished anything without her. I also have parents that were great role models to me growing up. My father really instilled in me a strong and responsible work ethic that has stuck with me my whole life.
