Meet Darryl DeShawn | Creative Director & Wardrobe Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Darryl DeShawn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darryl, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I’ll say the most important factor is that i’m very determined to make my dreams a reality. I have been working extremely hard to climb new heights each and everyday. Allowing the steps from my past to be a reminder that anything is truly possible when you believe. The success of my brand is made up of sleepless nights, tears, and always on the go to make sure i’m able to fully function while wearing multiple hats throughout this whole process. They say to make diamonds you have to apply pressure and thats all i’ve been doing this entire time. I am that diamond in the rough and i’m proud of all the roads I walked to be here.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I want the world to know about my brand new journey is that sometimes you have to be willing to bet to all on yourself… and knowing that opportunity hit then your in deep!!! So many of the people I was once with counted me out, turned their backs, made rumors up, and play both sides of the fence. But it didn’t stop there… eventually I had to cut ties with the snakes in my circle and started cutting my grass a lot shorter then finally I was able to see all the energy that was never suppose to be there in first place. I am truly thankful for growth and how the tables have turned because that same one that was counted out is now doing the counting… ima let that sit.

Also what sets me apart from others is that I am one of a kind… there’s no one like me and I don’t think there will be another me. Im what you call a breathe of fresh air with a side lemonade – meaning that i’m what you need rather than not having. I just feel everything I do is simply on another level… a lot of things I put my hands into is beyond this world.

Was it is… absolutely not, nothing meant to have is ever easy… the greater things we want out of life always take more of a struggle until you finally start to apply the pressure.

Last but certainly not least I learned that it letting go, letting god and allowing those who were meant to stay be here and those who were meant to be gone… leave
don’t ever stop a person who no longer belongs hit the door, its going to save you in the end

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Venice Beach is my most favorite place to go catch a vibe , I absolutely love the culture , the art, the food and the beautiful scenery it gives throughout the day.

I love West Hollywood because its truly a magical place to be when you just wanna let your hair down and the people are super dope.

far as food my favs are yard house, red salmon, the walk up cafe, honey kettle , and all the sea food restaurants you can think of lol

The best places to check out is the night life on the beaches … that Santa Monica is so amazing

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Whew…. I have so many I would like to shout out but first I wanna thank my number one cheerleader which is my mother , she’s been in my corner throughout this whole entire process. Her words of wisdom , love and naturing energy is what led me here and grew into the man I am today. My mother has always told me what I needed to hear and even though sometimes I felt like she was being hard on me. It was for the better and i’m so proud of our bond because she has never left my side no matter what. I am truly thankful for this woman because she’s my hero, my leader, my shoulder , my ear, and voice of reason. I do all of this because she’s always instilled in me to never stop at anything.

I wanna take time to also shout out my aunties, cousins, brothers an nephews for always being there for me whenever I needed them.

I wanna shout out all my amazing friends who I love dearly and I truly appreciate them so much because in this life it can get very lonely but with the support of them im always in the best of moods. Thank you Tristan, CC, Brandon, Mike Lite, Zach, Clay, Jacorie, Sammy, Nom-L, Latonya, Latisha, Damon, Kayla, Nestor, Omari, Kay, Alan, Jordan, Calvin, Flawless Phoenix, Dymond, Drena, Sheila, Stacy, Tre Navan, and all those people that cam in an taught me some valuable lessons.
