Meet David Collum II | CEO of Correct Collum Entertainment

We had the good fortune of connecting with David Collum II and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always been a musician, and I have seen a vacancy of work for creatives. I wanted to fill the space for good musicians, producers, and artists to be able to create. The music industry is very biased on looks and numbers over sound and quality. I wanted to open a space for creatives to be free enough to make the music they enjoy, with out having to worry about the pressures that the music industry can hold. Sometimes, to make good music, creatives need a environment that will give them enough freedom to do so.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
This journey has been a difficult, yet fulfilling one. Correct Collum Entertainment is working hard to establish itself in the music industry during an interesting time. We went live in 2019 during the outbreak of Covid-19. Since that time, the music industry and the world has changed so much, and we have adapted with the new times. We are about to release several projects and currently are working on many more. In addition, we have now begun to book international tours as well as residencies. Every situation is different and learning how to navigate through them all has been the most rewarding part.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would have a pretty fun itinerary. On the first day, I would take them to Venice beach for bike riding until the sun set. We would then go to Roscoes Chicken and Waffles for lunch on the next day. I would take them to a musicians jam on the third day. We would go to Bossa Nova for dinner and drinks on the fourth day. We would go to a Dodgers game on the fifth day. On the sixth day I would take them hiking at Runyon Canyon. The last day we would go Go-Karting.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have always been an information sponge. I learn from everyone and everything around me. I consider life to be the best teacher due to the experiences Ive had. Along my journey, my experience has stuck with me longer than any level of book knowledge. When I live what I learn, it becomes a part of my identity. I owe all of my successes to the life I’ve lived, and everyone that I have learned from along my journey.
