We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawn Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dawn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind my business is all centered around my WHY.
I’ve been in the marketing and branding industry for over 15 years. I absolutely love what I do. So having a marketing and branding business was a given.
But my why, was the main driver that really got the ball rolling. When I started my business, I knew without a doubt, that I wanted to support and help other women and BIPOC grow their business. I knew wanted to serve my community.
Even though my business has evolved over the past 3 years, serving my community has always been the north star for my business. Everything I do supports that goal.
What should our readers know about your business?
One of the things that set me apart, is the relationship I work to establish, from the very first interaction I have with a business owner. I’m going to be transparent, honest, and dedicated to your business. What that looks like is: – If I’m not the best fit for what your business needs, I’ll point you in the right direction
– I’m not going to give you services or recommendations of things that your business doesn’t need
– I’m going to educate you, and teach you, so that you aren’t in the dark about things that are happening with your branding and marketing.
I let business owners know that I’m here to help as much or as little as they may need me. The honestly and transparency I show, allows me to build a relationship with me, where they can truly think of me as a partner.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not a resident of California.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are several people and things that have played a role in helping me get to where I am today. My faith and confidence in knowing that I’m fulfilling what I believe to be my purpose. My husband who always encourages me to think big. And my tribe of other small business owners and powerhouse women that advise, listen and support.
