We had the good fortune of connecting with Dee Kristina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dee, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am originally from Brooklyn, New York. The Brownsville area to be exact. Growing up in New York as people would say the concrete jungle where anything is possible where there’s a lot of hustling bustle. I can actually say that coming from New York and then migrating to Virginia a slow pace, people are very friendly. You know your neighbors it was like a culture shop. Having the best of both worlds in my life in my early part of life, it impacts why today because one I’m not afraid to take risk I’m not afraid to be in the fast pace move around shake me up moments I’m not afraid to change , one thing about myself I noticed is I actually like to work under pressure. I like the hard cases I enjoy when things are due at the last minute. I know it’s crazy, but I also have those moments where I also enjoy me time and the slowness and no one around because that’s when I get to clear my mind, and basically reset so being from New York in this fast pace lifestyle, but then moving and migrating to other parts of the world , it all allows me to have the best of both for us and that’s how I live my life and take my journeys.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the proud owner of a nonprofit organization called Brayangels. My journey began and was inspired by one of God angels. Braylin Keith was born on September 12, 2009 and God called him home a month later. I knew forever my life would never be the same, but my healing process began with wanting to help other grieving parents and children. I always say if I could change all the lives of children I would, but this is my journey.

BrayAngel is committed to brightening the lives of children around the world who have or are enduring terminally illness. This journey does not stop with the children, but continue with a mission to help the parents of those children. As a grieving parent myself, I know the effects of these situations. I have made it through those tough times and I am here to say there is light at the end of the tunnel. With God on my side I hope to guide you to that same light. Your life does not end with these circumstances. BrayAngel is determined to change your lives for a better tomorrow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re talking about my friends they probably have their own itinerary lol. We are more like go with the flow type of people.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I like to shout out God himself for the protection, the growth in my journey and that includes the good in the bed. Second, I like to shout out My Father. My Father has shown me what strength looks like, power looks like,being an entrepreneur, but even in my lowest moments of my life, he has also been the person to say I need you to get it together and I need you to keep moving. He is my Dad 1st, but my biggest Cheerleader in any aspect of my life. My mother who have shown me that forgiveness is not always easy but it’s possible and she has been supportive of that journey for me. I can say that there are a lot of people that I can name that has been supportive of me have been pushing me to my next levels. But I would like to say the naysayers I appreciate my naysayers because it makes me go harder every day in my life.

Last, but certainly not least I am who I am today and who I’m striving to be because of my 2 children. They give me so much strength.
