Meet Denie Shae Martinez: Ayurveda, Yoga & Meditation Practitioner, Aromatherapist & Bodyworker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Denie Shae Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denie Shae, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
RISK- I love that it is a 4 letter word. I tend to be more of a conservative type, wanting to always weigh the pros and cons, although I am ruled by my gut knowing. The risks I have taken in my life and career might not appear to be BIG on the outside but for me internally stepping in to being seen, heard and connected to was a big RISK. Would I be accepted? Would I be valued? Would others “get it”? I realized I would never be able to step into what life was asking of me- teach, create, connect- if I stayed small and afraid. In 2017 I decided I would say YES to everything- every teaching opportunity, new client, new formulation. It was a wild year. I learned what worked and what didn’t. My discerning wisdom became fine tuned and the experience gained that year was deeply transformative. I believe I would not be the person I am today without that year of YES.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I recognized early on I was in a large pool. There were many just like me offering similar practices or products. What made me different? Early on I recognized my desire “to do no harm”. This led me to deepen my education with those who had strong integrity and authenticity. I recognized early on that individualized care was my sweet spot. There was no pre-packaged, one size fits all in my business. I wanted to see each person as a unique expression of life and thus my medicine and recommendations would be this way too. One important facet of my business where I get to be creative is Aromatherapy, I began my studies in 2011 and have yet to fall out of love with this form of medicine. I have had to educate clients around the safety and usage of essential oils mostly because of the main stream and overuse of these powerful plant medicines. It was not easy- I was up against a lot of misinformation brought about by large multilevel marketing companies who were only concerned with turning plants in to profit. Due to popular demand I recently created a Blend of the Month to encourage people to try medicinal aromatherapy, which is a limited run for that month only. I continued to stand by my mission and belief that there is no one perfect Anti-Anxiety blend for all. I want everyone to know that your life and your experience is unique and the most potent care you will receive will be with those practitioners that honor that and create accordingly. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I deeply believe it takes village for individuals to fully step in to life. This might be obvious but in many ways we never know how one conversation, one divine appointment or one moment can shape us and the world around us. There are MANY people that have supported me along the way- taught me valuable life skills, showed me the way to do and not to do and held space for me to be just as I am. This freedom to be seen, heard and connected to was my medicine- for that I would like to thank all of the Ayurvedic Practitioners that I have seen personally and have studied with. The wise and experienced yogis and yoginis that imparted the timeless wisdom of Yoga Nidra to integrate the various aspects of being human. The hands on Bodyworkers, Physical Therapist, Chiropractors and Acupuncturists that offered healing touch and integration. The Practitioners that I have had the honor to collaborate with- we truly are better together.
