We had the good fortune of connecting with Denise Wiesner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denise, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I believe that change happens first with ourselves. In order to change the world we need to be the change we want to see. I see it quite often that people want more peace in the world but they themselves are angry much of the time. I believe it is important to feel our feelings and allow for them but not to get stuck in them. In my practice of Chinese Medicine I help people have a  healthier life : body, mind and spirit. I address the whole person. Since my main focus of my practice is fertility, I believe the impact of helping women and men become their healthiest selves will impact the next generation of children that we are ushering in. This is of great importance. Our planet needs to be healthy and in order for life to go on, we need to make sure we are healthy. I believe there are many amazing alternative treatments for diseases and surgeries. I for one tore my ACL and medial meniscus in my knee this summer, and am using all that I know to heal this without surgery. I believe the doctors didn’t expect me to do as well as I am doing. If we could bridge the gap between western and eastern medicine, people would find that they have many more options for treating and healing disease.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am so proud not only of my clinic, Natural Healing & Acupuncture in West Los Angeles, but I am also proud of the my coaching career in infertility and intimacy that I have begun and my book , “Conceiving With Love.” I have been working in the field of Chinese Medicine for over 26 years. It is hard for me to believe it has been this long. And just recently I got my doctorate. In this time, I have learned a lot about not only helping individuals with their health concerns including pain, cancer and fertility but also how to run a business. Not a lot was taught to me in my Master’s program many years ago about business so I learned all I had to in the school of hard knocks. It’s funny but all the words of wisdom that I tell my infertility patients to help them are the same words that I apply to my life and business. For example, I have learned that change is certain and that I have to be like water( a fitting metaphor for a Chinese Medicine Doctor) and ride the waves of my life and that includes my challenges. I have learned that life is a journey and I feel that I have the experience both good and bad to help guide my patients and clients to live a healthy, abundant and fertile life. I have learned that we have to feel all of our feelings and not try and stuff them but have compassion to ourselves, one another and this life. I have also learned that we are all in this together. That kindness toward one another is key!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanted to Shoutout my mentor Randine Lewis. She is the author of The Infertility Cure and an amazing individual. I spent many years following her around as she led workshops and helped women who were struggling with infertility. With the background of Chinese Medicine, I saw how this woman worked with women to elevate their bodies, mind and spirits. She also became my friend. Every time I see her, it is like I have come home. She walks and lives the principles of the Tao and I am grateful to know her. Another shoutout is to Ram Dass. I showed up to his workshop in Maui almost at the 1 year anniversary of my late husband’s death. ( 9 years ago) I was in the middle of deep grief and didn’t have many tools to cope with it. Sitting in his wheelchair with half of his body paralyzed from a stroke, this man looked deep into my eyes and taught me about loving awareness. But it wasn’t just my eyes he was looking at, he also looked this way at everyone. He taught me that the body is temporary but the soul lives on. This provided me with great comfort in my grief. Many wise teachers also spoke at this retreat. It was there that I realized that helping people connect to their own LOVE energy is the most important thing to do. It was there in the following years that I got inspired to write my book., “Conceiving with Love.” to help ,men and women connect to intimacy and increase fertility. Although he has left his body, he lives on for me in his teachings!
