We had the good fortune of connecting with Derrick Botts Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Derrick, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The Instruments of Praise Conference is the most exciting gathering to experience the Glory of God! We’re here to inspire every believer from all ends of the spectrum. We first look to those in our community to promote local artists ,dancers and bussiness owners.

Annually we continue to give scholarships to youth of various backgrounds. In addition we are developing more ways we can show our love to those around us. This upcoming November we will be gearing up for our sixth annual event.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Being a Los Angeles native I’ve been fortunate to really emerge as a freelancer. From assistant producer of a benefit concert featuring recording artist Erica Campbell, a graphic designer for local city government events while still servicing birthday parties, baby showers and businesses all throughout California. What makes me unique is my aim to build community through every relationship at the start. It’s always my goal to serve first rather than be compensated.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Pastor Kyron Shorter of Bethesda Temple Church has been very instrumental in the success of myself and IOP. Pastor Kyron has willingly opened the doors of his church, heart and time to help us grow. He has been a constant example of love to all but even more so to young adults that we can depend upon. We appreciate every sacrifice he has given by his own accord! Thank you for being our mentor and one of our biggest supporters.
