Meet Desiree Kitsmiller | Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Desiree Kitsmiller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Desiree, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My idea of balance has completely changed over time. I used to think balance meant simply getting through a 9–5 workweek and trying to “switch off” in the evenings and weekends, but I was constantly exhausted and unhappy.
Now, I see balance as having control over my time and energy rather than separating “work” and “life” so strictly. By creating financial stability and the flexibility to work remotely, I’m able to structure my days around when I’m most productive, while also making space for travel and passion projects that genuinely fulfill me.
For me, balance is no longer about dividing hours evenly, it’s about designing a life where work supports my wellbeing instead of draining it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work as both a content creator and a Physician Associate, which is a combination that truly sets me apart. My career sits at the intersection of healthcare, creativity, and communication. Part time, I work in medicine, supporting patients and clinical teams. Outside of that, I create relatable, lifestyle-driven content for brands online.
What I’m most proud of is building two careers that feel authentic to who I am. Healthcare has taught me empathy, credibility, and attention to detail, while content creation allows me to express creativity and connect with people in a different way. The two worlds actually complement each other — my medical background builds trust with my audience, and my creative work allows me to communicate clearly and engagingly.
Getting to where I am today was not easy. Becoming a Physician Associate required years of intense study, discipline, and resilience. At the same time, building a presence as a content creator took patience, consistency, and learning through trial and error. There were moments of self-doubt, burnout, and feeling stretched thin trying to balance both paths.
I overcame those challenges by learning to be intentional with my time, setting boundaries, and focusing on work that genuinely aligned with my values. I learned that progress doesn’t have to be fast to be meaningful, and that building something sustainable is far more important than chasing quick success.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you don’t have to fit into one box. You can be clinical and creative.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I represent balance, authenticity, and trust. I show that it’s possible to pursue a career in healthcare while also building a creative life online, and that both can exist together in a way that feels fulfilling, honest, and impactful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting me in Guildford for a week, I’d show them the town exactly how I live it, starting most mornings with a walk up Pewley Downs for the views, then a workout at Harbour Hotel Gym Guildford and coffee in town. Evenings would be for great food and atmosphere: Italian dinner at Positano, cocktails at The Ivy Asia Guildford, drinks by the river at Coppa Club Guildford, and cozy nights hopping between local pubs along the High Street . All of my favorite activities and places to create a balanced experience
