We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Muhammad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destiny, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson my business/career has taught me is to always be careful and aware of the energy I’m surrounded by. Your environment and peers plays a huge role in your success. It’s important to understand that the energy you’re surrounded by becomes the energy you carry, which in turn makes or breaks your future endeavors.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a full time Artist. This includes makeup artistry, modeling, writing, styling, creative directing and more to come! I’m super excited to see how many people I inspire through my creative endeavors. Getting to this position in my career has not been an easy ride at all, but its definitely worth seeing how far it takes me in the end. During this ride to success, I’ve learned to stay consistent and true to my passion. Committing myself to what I love, not only pushes me to keep going through every hardship with a smile, but also assist in putting each piece together to my bigger picture. I want the world to know that it really doesn’t matter who you are or where you’ve come from. You can and will become the person you’ve always dreamt to be, through hard work and dedication.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start my besties adventure off with brunch in Mid-Wilshire at “Met her at a bar”. This place has a full menu of some of the most creative dishes. The fruity pebble waffles and bottomless mimosas were my favorite. After brunch we could stop at Santee Alley in the fashion district to do some shopping. There are so many different stores on the strip to grab some dope pieces for an affordable price. Venice beach is also one of my favorite places to visit for excitement and relaxation. This beach is full of creatives like ourselves, so she would definitely love the scenery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentor “Starr Blackshere” helped push me to see my worth and focus on executing steps through out my creative development process. She’s helped me tremendously with becoming aware of where I was lacking and what was needed for my growth to continue. She’s also taken the time to work hands on with me to advance my skills in makeup artistry. Without her wisdom and willingness to aid in my growth, I don’t know where I would be today.
