We had the good fortune of connecting with Devin Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Devin, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Growing up I was never the person to be a risk taker. Taking risk has been my life ever since I I moved to LA when I was 22 to purse my dreams. It took risk taking in order for me to move, pursue the career that I’m in and also start my cosmetic business. It’s now a way of life for me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the proud owner of a cosmetic line called Nuances d’Amour. The line was created in 2021 but has been in the making since 2018. I’ve gotten where I am today by doing tons of research, reaching out to people who are in the same industry for advice and having faith that everything will turn out exactly how I wanted. It hasn’t always been an easy process because starting a business like mine is very competitive . also when you want to start something of your own not a lot of people are open to help you if they are in the same business as well. I’ve overcome these challenges by remaining focused on my brand and having the mindset that each brand is different and appeals to the preferred audience. Lessons I’ve learned are that you always have to be marketing your brand and patience is key to having success. Im obsessed with the French language so I came up with the name Nuances d’Amour which means shades of love in French, in creating this line I wanted to have products that made customers fall in love with themselves so that each product brought out a side of themselves that they never knew they loved.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting town for a week the places I would take them would first be point dume. I’m a huge beach lover and that is one of my favorite places to go to unwind and relax. Another place would be the brentwood country mart where they have tons of amazing food restaurants. Another one of my favorite restaurants is copper mine in Woodland Hills they have great food and you are sure to find the most friendly people there as well. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to first my parents for always supporting and believing in me and my amazing group of friends who are always there not only when I need them but when I need that extra push to accomplish my goals.
