We had the good fortune of connecting with Kara Udziela and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kara, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Several years ago, I faced a life-threatening illness. A 1-percent kind of illness where chances of living a year are 50/50.
I had been an animal communicator under-the radar for several years while clinging to another business for which I no longer felt any deep passion. But, I was afraid to take risks. It felt risky to proclaim to the world, “This is who I am. I hear the animals. I can help you.” As a Taurus, safety and security are important to me, but I have always been a spiritualist by nature. I just grew up believing that you couldn’t do that as your job. So, I took few risks. I stayed safe, and small.
In that horrible year, a dear Indian spiritual teacher of mine, Ruby Bedi, told me something I that I will never forget. She said that if I didn’t rid myself of fear, fear would kill me. Further, she said that we all come into this life with a set number of breaths. Some babies get four breaths and they are gone, some people get 300 billion breaths, but once you have run out your breaths, that is it. You are done.
Ruby said, “Live BOLDLY, because there is no other choice if you want to be truly alive.”
Ruby was bold, and colorful, and fun. She died unexpectedly about six weeks after telling me that. I quit my other business and committed myself to the animals and their people. I live boldly every day, in Ruby’s honor.
I think back about where I didn’t take risks in years past, and I would like to tell younger people to diversify their interests, create multiple revenue streams, and get some savings socked away, but then take risks, and live the life YOU want, because no one else is living it for you, and there is zero guarantee you are getting 100 years to live your destiny.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am an animal communicator and energy worker. Pet’s Eye View is my business, which has helped thousands of animals and their people get over resentments, change poor behaviors, face health challenges, increase vitality, and handle death with grace.
My purpose is to help the spiritual animal guardian cut through cat and dog karma drama, face challenging medical or behavior conditions, or simply deepen the sacred bond between them and the animals in their care. What sets me apart from others is that I don’t just communicate telepathically with the animals, I bring to my practice a vast array of bodywork and animal behavior knowledge. I also utilize metaphysical techniques, ranging from Emotional Freedom Technique, (tapping on the Chinese Acupressure points for fear and stress–yes-distance works fine–my clients are from all over the globe), to chakra clearing, hypnosis, and visualization, to work on both the pets and the people in the situation to shift energy for positive change.
I’m very excited about my group coaching program, Animal Soulmate Fellowship, where I teach small groups of committed animal guardians how to be more intuitive, what to look for in their pets’ bodies and behaviors in order to shift anything not working, and how to help a multiple-pet home be calm, not chaotic. I also have a private-session program for people with serious animal issues, from behavior concerns to illness, called Animal Soul Therapy.
I’m most excited that Animal Communication is becoming a very acceptable as a mainstream option for people. The more pets we can keep in homes because their people understand them better, the happier I am.
I’m probably one of the few animal communicators who has been in almost every situation my human clients face. I’ve lost the best dog ever; I’ve had a beautiful dog die slowly; I’ve had animal control called on me with a new rescue dog who barked his head off. I solved that with EFT in three weeks. I assigned myself the job of adopting a semi-feral cat to bring into a rowdy three-dog home almost solely so that I could teach my clients how to integrate multiple pets successfully. It took work, but my pets sleep on the bed together happily.
Also, although I can go as woo-woo as you want, I’m also deeply practical. I recognize people need real-world solutions to deep issues. I have transformed the lives of thousands of people and their animals. It is my joy.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to Laguna Beach for a couple days, and we would eat at Nirvana Grille, repeatedly! We’d then go Whale Watching at Dana Point and call out all the dolphins. The dolphins really respond to animal communicators and often come in the thousands to the boat. Then we would head to the Getty Museums–both! I grew up going to the Villa, and have wonderful memories of the courtyard and the Roman and Greek statuary. And, because I am a kid at heart, I would have to spend a few days at Disneyland, because it makes me truly joyous. Finally, we would go find dogs and cats to cuddle at a local rescue and we would do energy work to help them all find the perfect home and release the heartbreak of being given up by someone.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This Shoutout is dedicated to Ruby Bedi, for teaching me to live boldly, and whose teachings remain online. It is also dedicated to my animal telepathy teacher, Joan Ranquet, for telling me one fateful weekend workshop, that I could absolutely hear animal voices, even though I wasn’t a practicing Reiki person like the other 20 people in the room.
Finally, to my charming and strong husband, Chris, for not blinking once, but supporting me with utmost sincerity on this road less traveled. And to my sons, Liam, and Alexander, both excellent young animal communicators.
