Meet Diane Luby Lane | Founder & Executive Director of Get Lit – Words Ignite

We had the good fortune of connecting with Diane Luby Lane and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diane, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Balance, ha! Just bring your family with you – everywhere you go! Everything you do!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started a nonprofit devoted to increasing teen literacy called Get Lit – Words Ignite in 2006. Get Lit/Literary Riot coproduced a movie called Summertime that premiered this summer in cities throughout the United States. Summertime was written by 27 Get Lit Poets who all found Get Lit while in high school. Now Get Lit is launching the world’s first interactive poetry platform called Uni(verse). I’m really excited about that. None of it has been easy, but it has been very rewarding.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to a Get Lit open mic held at our HQ in Koreatown.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this to phenomenal kids everywhere
