We had the good fortune of connecting with Dina Braverman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I knew that Professional Organizing was something that I was great at. I knew that it was something that everyone would need in their life at some point in some place. I knew that my corporate experience coupled with my OCD which manifested in organization, and my drive to be successful was going to propel me and my company to be successful.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Organizing Concepts and Designs, aka OCD, was founded in 2010. We specialize in residential organizing, office organizing, relocations, estate sales and clearing. I started as a sole proprietor and quickly realized how necessary and in demand our services were. As a result, I hired a few assistants and starting expanding our service specialties and service areas within one year. We are now a team of 8. The growth of OCD was organic. People who wanted to organized starting contacting me when I was just about ready to hire. Due to my legal background I knew how to hire and retain good people. Thankfully, most of those who started with me are still with me today. Of course, we continue to take on new organizers as we continue to grow. A few important lessons that I learned along the way are: treat others as you want them to treat you; have fun so it doesn’t feel like work and stay relevant.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to my favorite restaurants and some trendy spots as well. Probably Dan Tana’s or Madeo’s for Italian Food. Nobu’s for Sushi, Ruths Chris for Steak. La Scala for a great salad, Davenports for fine dining. I would take them on a drive up the coast and stop at Santa Ynez and Cambria for a couple of days. I would also drive down south towards Laguna/Newport Beach and some beach towns along the way for a day or two. I’d probably drive through Topanga Canyon and drive up or down PCH to get to any of the above destinations. Of course, I’d introduce them to my friends and visit my family as they would undoubtedly know my family and want to see them.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My employees, my team members, have all helped in so many different ways to create our success. I couldn’t do what I do without them. Of course, my friends, family and colleagues who have all been supportive should be also be recognized.
