Meet Divine Dawson | CEO & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Divine Dawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Divine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I found that I was not happy in corporate America. I was always working a job and making my employers richer, in the meantime I had no satisfaction. I first started working on my business part time and realized that, that was not enough. So I got on my knees and prayed for guidance then stepped out on faith. We incorporated in 2014 and have been making a name since.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Divine Model and Talent Management Inc. (DMTM INC) we give a new meaning to ‘The One Stop Fashion Shop’. Not only do we manage models for print, runway, commercial and fitness, we also represent the various artists behind the scene in the fashion world (make-up artist, hair stylist, photographers and film makers / videographers. We pride ourselves on cross training and many of our models write, dance, sing and act in addition to their primary talents. This unique agency also houses a Fashion Design line (DivineWear). We are pleased with our line; we have been recently styling production for film, music video and product campaigns in our line. Watch out for what we have coming soon. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is difficult to answer one because I’m a home body and two this pandemic got everything closed. But if I had to use my imagination, I would keep things close to home. Perhaps go to the local winery and an outdoor eatery. Maybe even tale a trip to Santa Monica Pier. The busy life of a creator, father and husband leaves little time for leisure.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest encouragement comes from my faith and my personal relationship with the creator. The first person on my list would be my mother Eulita Watts. My mother is one of the strongest and compassionate woman I know. She has always been a great support system and motivating factor in all of our lives (my siblings and myself). Next I would like to give credit to my siblings, Shakiem, Kaseam, Asia, Keith, Kareem they encourages me every day more than they know. I want to give thanks to my right hand man, our Vice President Mr. Terry Evans without you this may have still been just an idea. Mr. Lancelot Dawkins you have been here from day one and it is a joy watching you helping us grow. I have to mention my in laws and extended family for all of your love and support.

You all know who you are. I can’t forget to give a shout out to my entire DMTM Family I love and cherish you all! Last but not least, my biggest inspiration, the loves of my life, My husband Carl, my biggest fan, who has been the center of my world for the past 19 years and our three sons Ethan, Brian and Donovan.
