We had the good fortune of connecting with Dove Meir and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dove, do you have a budget? how do you think about personal finances?
I do have a budget. In fact, I teach seminars on personal finance that include budgeting as well as debt management and investing. Remnants of my last life before I found my calling that I use to help as many people as I can. Generally speaking, I don’t incur any debt. So if there is anything I’d like to purchase, I ask my self if I can afford it 100% at that moment. If not I put it on a list and I start putting money away and saving for it. Usually by the time i’ve saved enough, the desire for what I wanted has dissipated and then I have money saved up for the next thing!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I’m most proud of are the ways that my work has impacted others. When you are a part of a machine that is intended to open someone’s mind to another perspective or rethink the world around them, it is the most amazing experience to have someone approach you and tell you of them having such an impact. Just like any business, I imagine, I was able to get here by working harder than everyone else. Success is the combination of luck and being prepared when the opportunity appears before you. I’ve found that the harder you work and the more focused you are, the more luck you have. In the end I’d like for the world to remember me as being true and honest in my work and loving and caring in my relationships with friends and family. After all, the only thing you can take with you to your everlasting resting place is how you’ve affected the people around you while you’re here.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a funny question, considering the times. I think I”ll imagine for a moment that Covid19 isn’t running rampant. My best friend is my identical twin brother. If he were here I would first take him to Apex Wolf Sanctuary. I’ve been volunteering with them for several months and have fallen in love with the pack. Wolves are incredible animals and you can’t help but be in awe of their intelligence the way they behave so like us. We’d then go for ice cream at Sliders in Burbank where Josh makes the most amazing custom ice creams. His passion in describing how he makes the different and innovative flavors is half the fun in going! “Smoke and Oil” is my favorite! For dinner we’d check out Niko Niko Sushi and enjoy their “Superman Burritos”. In reality today, if he did come visit and he’s cleared of Covid, we would spend a lot of time relaxing at home and I’d show him the garage conversion I’ve been working on and have him help me finish the drywall and start tiling the floor. I love doing projects with people!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
