Meet Dr. Katelyn Lehman | Co-Founder, Quantum Clinic

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Katelyn Lehman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Katelyn, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I think balance is a myth. Perhaps a closer approximation to how I manage the various responsibilities of running a business raising a family is to recognize that I can either do it from a place of stress, or from a place of coherence. We all make choices in life, and the choice to live joyfully and from compassion in both business and my personal dealings allows me to trust that no matter what the day brings, I can handle it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My professional journey has centered around impact work in communities of need. For most of my career I’ve worked with low-income minority populations in various mental health treatment facilities in Los Angeles. Folks struggling with serious and severe mental illness, people seeking asylum and hardship waivers from deportation, and those who have experienced workplace injury or medical malpractice. These experiences have taught me the value of presence and unconditional positive regard.
The human experience is fraught with complexity and hardship, my own life is no exception to that. But as I’ve grown and overcome adversities I’ve become more capable of being present for others in their times of need. I think that’s what makes our work at Quantum Clinic so special and unique. We’re all human, and ultimately, the only answers worth seeking are those found within our own soul.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Gosh, I’ll be honest. I’m a bit of a homebody… And most of my best friends have kids. So we’re probably just hanging out around the house, maybe going to a park, or taking a big adventure to the beach for an afternoon.
My favorite restaurants are: Bestia and Kazu Nori Downtown and Viet Noodle Bar in Atwater Village.
My favorite hangouts are: the Huntington Gardens and the Los Angeles River in Frogtown.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout is dedicated to Dr. Judith Holloway, an advisor of mine in graduate school. A brilliant woman with a passion for ecology and systems theory in the practice of professional psychology.
