Meet Dr. Mark Wang | Dental Practice Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Mark Wang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Mark, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Honestly, the biggest reason for our success at The Honest Tooth Dentistry has been the trust my dad, who is also a dentist, built with our patients over the years. I have many people who walk in and say, ‘Your dad has been taking care of me since you were a little kid’. Taking over the dental practice in 2024 was a big deal for me—not just professionally, but personally. I grew up in the office watching him treat patients like family, and that has echoed in my quality of care for my patients.
When I stepped in, I wanted to keep that same welcoming, down-to-earth vibe but also bring in some fresh updates—new technology, better systems, and a fresh redesign to make the space feel more modern and comfortable. Every change that has been made has been to improve the patient experience.
At the end of the day, what matters most is how people feel when they walk in and out of our doors, whether someone’s been with us for 25 years or it’s their first visit, I want them to feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for. That’s what my dad imparted on me, and that’s what we strive for at The Honest Tooth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At The Honest Tooth Dentistry, we’re all about combining honest, compassionate care in a comfortable setting. What sets us apart is the personal connection—we treat every patient like family, just like my dad did when he started the practice years ago. Taking over from him wasn’t easy—I had to earn trust, navigate change, and learn a lot along the way—but I stayed committed to our values of integrity and honesty.
I’m proud of how we’ve kept the warmth of the original practice while updating everything from technology to patient experience. We want everyone to know that at The Honest Tooth you’ll be treated with respect, kindness, and a commitment to doing what’s right. Come by and see for yourself!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a big foodie, so I’d want to take them to all my favorite restaurants in the area. We’d start by getting coffee and a light breakfast at Courage Bagels, then take an easy stroll at Griffith Observatory to at least say we saw the Hollywood sign. Then, we would head to Kazunori for their hand rolls, and finish up in Koreatown at Anko for their delicious shaved ice ( I have a huge sweet tooth even though I’m a dentist). We’d take a nap after all the food and exercise, then get korean bbq and follow up with karaoke at Gaam! My ideal weekend, forsure.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Obviously, I’ve got to give a huge shout-out to my dad, Dr. David Wang (the OG Dr. Wang). None of this would be possible without him. He built the practice in 1994 from the ground up with hard work, integrity, and a true passion for helping people. He didn’t just teach me how to be a great dentist—he showed me how to be a good human being. Taking over his practice wasn’t just about continuing the family business; it was about honoring the values he instilled and carrying that torch forward. I hope he knows how much that means to me and how proud I am to follow in his footsteps.
I also couldn’t do any of this without my amazing wife, Liz. From encouraging me when I doubted myself to helping me find balance between work and life, she’s supported me every step of the way. Her patience, love, and strength has kept me grounded through all the ups and downs of owning a business for the first time. Thank you for being my partner in every sense of the word.
I’d also like to shout out the best dental team a dentist can wish for- Joanna, Alexis, Caroline, Kashaela, and Reyna. They keep the office running and put up with me every day, I couldn’t run the office without them.
And of course, my family- my mom Jen, my sisters Steph and Audrey, and my brothers Matt and Allen- thank you for your encouragement, and unconditional support. It takes a village, and I’m lucky to have the best one.
This isn’t just my story—it’s ours, and I’m incredibly grateful.
