We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Tina Webb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Tina, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is perseverance, and just knowing that when one door closes, another one will open. I think that it can be easy to get discouraged when in pursuit of your dreams, because there are often so many setbacks, failures, and fears that can arise. But, in spite of it all, you have to keep going and just know that everything you want is on the other side of fear. No matter what, just keep going, eventually, perseverance will lead to success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business and brand has to do with all things regarding mental health and emotional wellness. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have my own private practice in which I provide counseling services to individuals and couples. I am most proud about my podcast that I produce and host called Coping Season with DrTina Webb, in which I provide a weekly dose of funny, entertaining, thought-provoking content as we explore topics from dating, to pop culture, to current events, to everyday stressors that Black men and women face. I discuss mental and emotional wellness, personal development, and life changing insights to help Black men and women to begin to heal and cope with the effects of emotional distress. I am also an author and I very excited about my memoir that I have been writing, which will hopefully help to encourage and inspire others on their journey towards success, and emotional wellness. Business wise, I’ve gotten to where I am today by setting my intentions and manifesting the things that I desire in life. I believe in the law of attraction and I believe in myself. I create vision boards, write down my goals, meditate, and I’m just open to the opportunities and people that come into my life. I’ve learned to express myself, and to say out loud, my dreams and goals. I keep a journal to write down my vision, and I revisit goals, reflect, and regroup when necessary. This is how I grow, and it keeps me motivated to keep moving towards the direction of my dreams. I didn’t get to where I am today, overnight. I feel as though I have been working all my life to get to this place, without even knowing that’s what was happening. Every experience has shaped and prepared me for this moment that I am currently living. I am just so appreciative and grateful for everyone and everything that has helped me along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow! Where do I start?! Living in Los Angeles, CA is one of the most thrilling, exciting, wonderful melting pots full of culture, various foods, entertainment, nature, and so much more. Lets see, I would definitely take them to Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, and to a couple secluded beaches in Laguna ( although thats Orange County…lol). We would have to do a couple hiking trails, like Runyon Canyon and Escondido Falls in Malibu to see the waterfalls. We could also pick up something delicious to eat from Nobu Malibu and then head over to Wine tasting at Malibu Wines and enjoy a picnic. Hopefully we can score some tickets to a Lakers Game and head over to Lucky Strikes Bowling Alley at LA LIVE to enjoy some music, libations, and bowling! And for the rest of the week, try of course all of the Los Angeles must see and do places, like Roscoes’ House of Chicken and Waffles, Honey Kettle in Culver City, Creamistry, Randy’s Donuts, Hollywood Walk of fame and all of the touristy stuff, Berri’s Cafe for some Lobster pizza at 3:00 am, Saddle Ranch on Sunset to ride the mechanical bull, the Laugh Factory for Chocolate Sunday’s for a good laugh or the Comedy Union on Pico. I would just tell my friend to prepare for no sleep, because we are going to live our best lives all in one week!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have so many people that have contributed to my success, including Shoutout LA for giving me this opportunity to share about myself . There are so many people who listen to and share my podcast, so many people that refer people for therapy with me, and mentors who have provided guidance and support. I just receive so much love and encouragement from friends, family, and strangers that it’s overwhelming. I feel incredibly grateful. But, if I had to choose two people, it would have to be my parents. They have been there for me 100 percent. Whether I just need someone to vent to, pray for me,  bounce ideas off of, provide information and resources, validation, a shoulder to cry on, no matter what, they are there for me. They are truly my biggest supporters and deserve my recognition for all that they do to support my dreams.
