We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Toby Mayer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Toby, what inspires you?
I was inspired to help the Transgender community through my work in Facial Feminization when I saw what an impact this made in their lives. It brings me great joy and personal satisfaction to see my patients living their life to the fullest and feeling comfortable in their own skin. I am inspired every day by the stories of my patients and I love seeing them thrive after having surgery.

Facial Feminization changes peoples lives for the better and I am honored to be a part of their journey.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am very honored to have worked with the Transgender community over the last 50 years. We have come a very long way and continue to make strides moving forward. When I first started performing Facial Feminization there was only one other doctor doing similar work. Other doctors did not want to get involved in this sort of surgery. I am proud to say that I considered myself an ally of the trans community then and still do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Santa Barbara Polo Club Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to attribute much of my success to my wonderful staff. I’ve had some people with me for over 20 years and some brand new but they each make an impact. My office staff allows me to focus on surgery without worrying if my patients are being taken care of on the administrative side.
