We had the good fortune of connecting with Dwight Trible and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dwight, what makes you happy? Why?
What Makes me happy. number 1 improving or growing as a musician and the glorious feeling that I get from singing, especially when I am singing well.
# 2. Fulfilling my obligations and promises that I have made, being true to my word.

#3 making other people happy, Example, when we pay tribute to some of our beloved elders in our community who have given their lives contributing to and preserving our rich history. It’s beautiful to acknowledge and salute them while they are still alive.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I like to think of myself as a progressive forward reaching ever expanding spiritual Vocal Musician.
The way that I got to this point is keeping my consciousness open to all artistic expressions.
you never know where your next inspiring lesson will come from. My motto is stay humble and hungry.
No it was and is not easy for an African American artist reaching for self actualization in this world.
You must be able to walk and balance the thin wire tight rope of being super sensitive on one hand and being able to withstand the callous unfeeling power structure in order to have your basic needs met.
every single day you must be able to deal with this rubber band that are pulling in opposite directions stretching to and sometimes beyond the limits. at the end the the day I am thankful that it did not break because if it breaks, you go insane. The main lessons for me is to do the very best you can to treat everyone and I do mean Everyone with love and humane dignity. Keep smiling even when your heart is breaking keep smiling

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend who has never been to LA before
I would start of by taking a long walk and catch up. there is nothing like just walking without being under time constraints , I think it gives the guest a chance to get their bearings.

I would take them to Leimert Park , Little Ethiopia , Culver City, Venice Beach, Marina Del Rey

Take the Train to Santa Barbara, The Ford Theatre, LACMA
