We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Ali and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dylan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to make money doing things I enjoy and bring people together in the process! I’ve always gravitated toward leadership roles and not wanting to work on other peoples’ time(outside of random clients) was the motivating factor to pursuing my dreams

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an open format DJ, creative director/stylist, actress, and model. I got to where I am by following creative impulses, collaborating with my peers, uplifting my community. It definitely wasn’t easy. I had to spend years refining myself, execute projects through trial and error, be open to making mistakes and learning from them, and take many of leaps of faith in myself. Biggest lesson I learned was to take things a step at a time, be practical with my goal making, and be tender with myself in moments of failure.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My entire life is in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan. Clothing, art, partying, restaurants, chilling at a park, the beach, you name it! You can probably do it in Brooklyn. I love Harlem too, I just hate traveling that far uptown. Favorite neighborhood in Brooklyn is bedstuy!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my friends, family, mentors, loved ones, and anyone who ever helped me.
